beyonce b'day tracks leaked and daddy knowles responds to internet rumors

it's like a fiesta of leaks today. beyonce has 5 full tracks leaked online. i'd go here as soon as you can before it gets pulled off.

while you're at it, daddy knowles made a public statement today responding to all the rumors being posted online. here's the main crux:

"It is apparent that there is a consistent plan by some to create chaos around Beyonce's B'Day album release on Sept 5th in the US. First, it was a petition against the single, “Deja Vu”, then a rumor regarding conflict between Beyonce and Rihanna, seizures caused by the "Ring the Alarm" video, putting out a single to compete with LeToya's album and now to add to all the ridiculous rumors, is my plan to postpone the release of her B'Day album. What will be next? Beyonce's cut off all her hair? Dyed it green? Maybe she's singing the songs in reverse with some hidden subliminal message!

Unfortunately what it shows is that anyone can go on the internet and create rumors and the media in some cases will pick up these stories and run with them which influence the consumer’s perception.

Beyonce has sold over a 140 million records as an artist. Over half sold outside of America. 2500 responses for a petition on the internet (which really represents often the same people responding 2-3 times) go online with a petition regarding “Deja Vu”, and it's national news? Think about that for a minute. 140 million records sold versus 2500 responses about a video. Does that really equate to a major concern? The answer is No!

I couldn't be happier with where “Deja Vu” is on the charts. It’s a Top 10 song on Billboard 100 and #1 on this week’s R&B charts. Mid week numbers in the UK is trending at #1 for the "Deja Vu" single for this week. Records have broken in Japan regarding ringtone sales of “Deja Vu.” It is one of the most ever streamed videos at Yahoo. “Ring The Alarm” was added to TRL on its first day of airing and it is on the R&B charts this week which gives Beyonce two singles on the charts at the same time.

Our plan is to have three singles on the charts together. For this album we have a unique strategy. Rather than concern ourselves with purely chart positioning we are focusing on the combine audiences who are listening and are aware of the singles on the album. That strategy is based on the combine belief of Beyonce, SonyBMG and Music World. This is unique, creative body of work on B'Day and every song is a potential single.

After all what do we know? Some weeklies reviewed "Independent Women" and gave it a "D-" and Beyonce’s first album “Dangerously in Love,” a "D".

And just for the record, Beyonce’s success or failure for me is not based on the number of records she sells. For me it's based on how proud I am that she is a genuine good person (Ask anyone who's worked with her). That she always has a kind word for others. That she is respectful and honest. That she gives back to her community and that she has so much love for her family. That she has grown to be such a leader. And lastly, she has the confidence not to be bothered by these planned distractions."

new york based disco punk quartet the rapture are finally gearing to release their highly anticipated new album pieces of the people we love.

continuing their highly successful brand of garage meets dance, the bigger buzz is the fact that this foursome plan to take their party on the road to a city near you. i can't wait!

beyonce : bday 30 second snippets online

seven 30 second snippets of beyonce's upcoming album 'b'day' was released yesterday. i'm not sure if this is a good way to promote the album especially since the snippets make every song sound the same (honestly, the album is much better than what you're getting. i heard it a month back at a listening session and i really liked it!)

but if you can't wait, check out the snippets here in one go:

video of the week: the horrors - sheena is a parasite

hailing from east london, this uk 5 piece have just gotten a rocket boost from nme by being named one of the best UK bands of 2006. i don't know if that's true, but they have found a way to get director chris cunningham (madonna, aphex twin) out from music video retirement to shoot their debut "sheena is a parasite".

add to the fact that the 1'30" video stars oscar nominee samantha morton (morvern caller, in america) as a frenetic monster and you pretty much have the best video of the week.

disturbing as you would expect a chris cunningham video to be, check out the horrors video below

wanna see kevin federline perform horribly? a shameless plug to my other blog wongie's world.

for those of you who missed yesterdays teen choice awards, you should definitely click to my other pop culture site wongie's world to see the horrible performance that is kfed's world premiere. the guy is nervous, but i swear i read that he started out as a dancer (the video proves otherwise).

random video: madonna vs new order - hung up monday [mash up]

just an extra thing for monday. a musical and video mash up of madonna and new order. not bad in my book.

lupe fiasco feat jill scott - daydream (world premiere)

over the past few weeks i've been finding myself discovering the talents of lupe fiasco over and over again.

this chicago rapper [born: Wasalu Muhammad Jaco] not only has got the backup of kanye west and jay z, but he's taking the high road and actually choosing creative mc-ing over the stuff you hear on hip hop radio (which is probably why he's not getting as much play as his peers). though a few mixtapes and versions of his album have already leaked on the streets these past two months, lupe releases his updated album food & liquor (with 5 new tracks) in mid-september.

here's the awesome 2nd single taken off the upcoming album featuring the amazing jill scott.

lupe fiasco feat jill scott - daydream

finally, here's the song that started it off for me. totally genius and reminds me of the spike lee soundtracks of the 90's.

killers - when you were young (world premiere)

the killers - when you were young [note: the song doesn't kick in until 50 sec. in]

finally, a video for the 1st single off the killers' sophomore release sam's town. shot outside of mexico city in the small town of Tlayacapan, the band performed in a local brothel (the ladies were apparently very nice) and also in the town center with a mariachi band.

i got a chance to listen to the whole album about a month ago (jay z and la reid were both in attendance) and i have to say that it's really really amazing (more of an album than a collection of potential singles). i kept on referring to the assured and dense album in my notes as meatloaf-esque (and i mean that in the best possible way).

here are the track listings for the album:

read my mind [wongie says: another storming single]

i don't get it, but this is the biggest phenomenom coming out of the east coast at the moment: chicken noodle soup

DJ Webstar and Young B teach the fans how to dance the chicken noodle soup

from the streets of harlem comes the latest dance craze that all the kids are going mad about. called the "chicken noodle soup (with a soda on the side)", the whole thing might sound like gibberish to you, but don't be surprised when this song becomes the #1 track on the charts.

to me, it just looks like an updated chicken dance.
[UPDATE: here's the video]

guess who's having a bad week? cassie - me & u (live on BET)

cassie - me & u (live on BET)

things are not looking that rosy for teen r&b queen cassie, not only was a home video leaked last week where cassie sang her summer anthem "me & u" provocatively in her bra and panties, but two live performances on mtv and bet showcased her less than stellar stage presence (or talent for that matter).

for her rough week cassie had this to say on her myspace site:
"I am aware that my live performances have been pretty bad," she posted. "No excuses, I'm still getting over stage fright. I am very upset with the series of events this week, and I do not appreciate people making me look and sound crazy. I'm not a whore or a bitch, which is what people have been making me out to be. I'm a 19-year-old girl, I'm single, and I'm working my ass off."

well... let's hope her work will pay off into some iota of talent.

jamelia : something about you (world premiere)

jamelia - something about you

uk artist jamelia is been a bit of an anomaly in the music world. straddling the guidelines of pop and soul, the cross genre style of her sound has allowed her a surprising career in a usually fickle industry. with anthems like "thank you" and "superstar" ruling the charts the last time around from the album thank you, expectation for her new release walk with me is incredibly high.

add to the fact that popjustice has already claimed 2nd single "beware of the dog" (which samples depeche mode's "personal jesus") as one of the best songs of the year, you get a pretty good idea that things will continue to be darn good for our jamelia in 2006.

if you like this first release and wanna prebuy her upcoming album walk with me click here

we all love a good catfight: scott storch vs christina aguilera

thanks to the good folks at intouch weekly, here is a recent comment by scott storch who is rumored to be dissed on the track "fuss" from her latest album.

"It's pretty pathetic thats she would do a song like this. I worked on half of her last CD and sold her millions of copies. Obviously, she cares more than I do that I didn't do this album. But I can't blame her, with an album full of fillers, oversinging and lame Vegas-like cabaret music. You should fire your management for letting me slip through your fingers."

meow!

PS: catfight aside, check out a lovely performance of "oh mother" that baby jane did on her mtv back to basics special. fake tears and all!

PSS: [updated] another performance of "ain't no other man" on letterman. my ears hurt.

beyonce : ring the alarm (world premiere) - she so angry

beyonce - ring the alarm

yahoo music world premiered the latest beyonce video and 2nd single from her upcoming b'day album.

once again, working with video director sophie muller (deja vu), beyonce brings her newfound high drama to the screen by going a tad apeshit, all the while breaking down inside. alot of people aren't feeling these videos, but i'm really loving them.

not quite sure if this was the best 2nd single, but trust me, there are at least 3 anthems coming up from this album.

for more up to date info (like her 1 on 1 on mtv august 17th) check out the awesome fansite beyonceworld.net

paris hilton

i hate to say it, but i've heard the upcoming paris hilton album and as much as i'd like for her to prove everyone wrong (as she did with "stars are blind"), the album is a stinker.

no matter how the label will try to spin the self titled album (guilty pleasure? pro-gay camp? tween aspirational? sexy pinup?) or buy airtime (a warner records produced reality style epk was just broadcast on mtv and vh1 last week), the fizzling potential of the album is apparent (no matter how wonderful the scott storch production is, the core is just so thin). oh well... onto the next paris venture.

don't believe me?
turn it up
(wongie says: just kill me now)

fighting over me (feat fat joe & jadakiss)
sample lyric:
everytime i turn around the boys fighting over me
everytime i step out the house, they wanna fi-i-ght over me (wongie says: ugh!)

guilty pleasure: lionel richie

i don't know if i should call it a guilty pleasure, but i've always had a bit of love for lionel richie and his cheesy music. of course nothing ranks up there as the days of hello or all night long (see video below) or my all time favorite, endless love (god, i'm such a nelly).

so imagine my curiousity when i heard that la richie was going to release a brand new album called coming home, working with the likes of hot producers jermaine dupri, raphael saadiq and dallas austin. i have a feeling (based on the catchy 1st single) that we may be in for a bit of a surprise when the album comes out next month.

for his 1st video "i call it love", daddy pulled no punches in bringing his daughter nicole to star as a spoiled princess falling in love with CSI Miami hunk Adam Rodriguez (she looks a bit like a certain other spoiled princess, no?). of course i'll post the video here as soon as it airs.

lionel richie - i call it love

lionel richie - all night long
[one of my all time favorite guilty pleasure songs!]

piddy feat nicole scherzinger - come to me (video premiere)

oh my gosh, watch the video just to see the silly grillz in his mouth and honestly if you met diddy dancing at you in a hallway, wouldn't you turn around and just walk away?

with a star studded new album coming out in october (featuring everyone from christina aguilera, keyshia cole, kanye west and mary j blige), p diddy is gearing up for the relase of latest album press play. calling it a hip hop r&b album, the album apparently also features diddy singing for the first time (i'm scared).

the thing with all diddy releases is that the people that he brings in are always more interesting than the lead himself, i have a feeling that this project is also the case.

not a big fan of this song, but i love nicole so i'm kind of torn.
diddy feat nicole - come to me

THE REAL RUDEBOX: Miss Jones hangs up on Christina Milian

why miss jones so nasty to me?

both concrete loop and popjustice got ahold of a phoner that poor christina milian did with Miss Jones from NYC hip hop station hot 97.

what christina thought was an interview about her movie pulse, turned right into a gossip q&a. the poor girl didn't even know what hit her.

man, that miss jones sure is a shady cow.

robbie williams: rudebox video premiere

so here it is, the robbie williams rudebox video. it kind of sucks (and he looks horrible).

keane - crystal ball

arctic monkeys - leave before the lights come on

this is the cover for justin timberlake's new album?

christina aguilera goes back to basics

just got ahold of the upcoming christina aguilera album (which i actually heard a month back) and though i can appreciate the creative leaps that she decides to take as an artist, i can't help but feel that CD1 (produced by dj premier) has the same cut'and'paste, jarring, shout in my face charm of her first single 'ain't no other man' (which can be uber annoying when you don't feel like it).

luckily cd2 (produced by the amazing linda perry) tries to diversify chistina's songs with doo-wap, blues and some songs which actually make christina sing in her quiet voice (thank you god!).

was there a need for two albums? i'm not quite sure, but if there was any way to have christina break away from her mickey mouse club past, back to basics definitely does the job.

here are three stand out trax [one week only]
CA - without you (gosh i hope this becomes a single)
CA - hurt (also this epic ballad)
CA - save me from myself

rappers delight: lady soveriegn, jamie t, spank rock, dj shadow, girl talk, plan b

i've been very excited about the slate of new hip hop coming out these days. not only are they going against the boring 'bling/b*tch/boast' criteria of 90% of what's on radio, but the music is vibrant and wonderfully diverse.

check out my faves at the moment:
lady sovereign - love me or hate me
(from her upcoming Def Jam album public warning)

jamie t - sheila
(jamie t artist website)

spank rock - rick rubin
(check out spank rock's website and remix a tune while you're at it!)

dj shadow feat q-tip & lateef - enuff
(check out info on DJ Shadow's upcoming album 'the outsider' on his myspace site)

girl talk - minute by minute
also check out two free downloads from the girltalk website
girl talk - hold up
girl talk - bounce that

plan b - mama
(guitarist rapper plan b is probably the most commercial of the lot, but i'm definitely feelin it. check out his website)

check out the sexy hot music video that got banned from mtv india

by the way, lead actor emraan hashmi is kind of dorky hot! what up with that?

[POSTING TAKEN FROM WONGIE'S WORLD]according to reuters, a high rotation music video from the bollywood movie "Aashiq Banaya Aapne" (aka love takes over), has been yanked off MTV India because of it's adult content. if you didn't know, bollywood has been pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable onscreen for the past few years (5 years ago, the actors would never kiss onscreen). so after watching the video for this film, i am shocked (it's like a skin-amax PG-13 film!!)

check out the video that has caused all the ruckus.
Aashiq Banaya Aapne

the cleaned up remixed version where our intrepid singer puts on a dorky hat and lame leather jacket. but once that shirt goes off... meow!
