[with organic dance based indie bands like ruby suns and yeasayer circling our radar in a serious way this year, it looks like it's time to add another band to the list; delorean. hailing from spain, this duo has created one of the most outdoorsy 'dance' songs i've heard in awhile. spatial and trippy, it took me awhile to get into this track. but i'm glad i gave it another chance cause it's LOVE-LEE!]

[any band that sites the shirelles and the ronettes as musical influences will easily fall favorably in our musical books. hailing from sheffield and naming their band after the suburb that they were living in (ie: crookes), this four piece write wistful happy gangly guitar pop tunes that will easily bring a smile to your face, all the while engaging you with that retro twist (as wikipedia called it, "the smiths at their most twee-est", which in our book is a good thing!). the band recently made their US debut at sxsw and hopefully more buzz will happen when they release their debut album later this year. check out some wonderful releases that came out last year!]

"Darwin Deez are a pretty strange and enduring looking bunch.
A crossbreed of The Strokes, yet they possess a personality and sense of humour, (much unlike the Last Nite trendies), and there is an element of Flight of the Conchords- if you can manage to take that seriously.
Dressed up in bright pastel colours, and almost resembling a tube of Loveheart candies, this colourful bunch look like they’ve dragged themselves out of a 80s’ New York.
Singer, Darwin (“Darwin is the name my parents gave me. Deez is not my real last name though. It's like Sasha Fierce”), who personally reminds me of a elfin type creature, sports a shiny luscious mane of brown curls (on a recent 6music interview he admitted he doesn’t use shampoo. [here's a nice discovery, 25 year old tinashe hails from zimbabwe but has been toiling the UK indie scene for a few years before getting signed by amy winehouse's a&r rep to a major label. the result is an eclectic sound that's classic r&b mixed in with straight up acoustic soul and a dash of indie thrown in. weirdly, his wonderful debut single sounds a tad overproduced when placed by his awesome simple performances. i've included a few highlights so you can decide for yourself. nevertheless, he's going to be big in 2010!]

I was originally shipped over from Zimbabwe so I could eventually grow to become a doctor/lawyer and wire money back home via Western Union, that didn't go so well... I blame/thank MJ.
I smiled & nodded to avoid bullying over my African accent at school until the Eastenders elocution lessons started to pay off... I can now slip in between both rather seamlessly... I grew up in Hackney. I will always be a Hackney boy but I'm enjoying being in a state of flux. Life is bigger than London.
I'm currently more in love with my guitar than I have ever been. I make guitar music. I am not ashamed to say l love pop music. That's what its all about for me. Good music fuelled by the world around me.]
