THIS totally reminds me of my obsession for all things manchester back in the 90's! with its psychedelic dance vibe that hail from australia, these guys are single handedly bringing back my baggy pants/hoodie yoof obsession!

INDIE MIX: james blake - to the last / life round here (feat chance the rapper)

check out two gems from james blake's current album 'overgrown' that is hitting the airwaves. one is gorgeous and hypnotic, while the other is a hot remixed version featuring chance the rapper that is crossing over to the mainstream but equally brilliant. we love james blake if you haven't figured that out by now!

with their album 'so long, see you tomorrow' just out, the BBC have once again gifted us a collection of catchy complex indie pop songs that allow you to discover new things with each listen. 'luna' has been doing exceptionally well on indie radio and easily plays as a crowd pleaser when you check them out at a venue near you. love these guys!

COOL MIX: bombay bicycle club - carry me

bombay bicycle club - carry me
taking a total departure from their folk leanings on their last album, the BBC seem to have found joy in experimenting with drums, song structure and guitars. the final result is a surprising and exciting affair that hopefully will be the running thread on their upcoming new album. love this!

[UPDATE] wanna hear this track in a more indie dance setting? check out this awesome remix by the cool ass push music folks! turn it up!

WONGIE INDIE SONG OF THE WEEK: vance joy - riptide

vance joy - riptide
not only am i obsessed with this cute ditty by aussie singer/songwriter james keogh (aka vance joy) but i'm also fascinated by the confident visuals of the music video by model/director laura gorun (she's also plays various roles in the video). already certified two times platinum in his home country, vance joy is definitely gaining buzz in the UK (playlisted on xfm) and in the US (touring with the amazing tom odell). it's on repeat and should be the same for you too!!!

there's something so wonderfully indie retro about this track! referencing so many styles, somehow the mix totally works, turning it all into an amazing song that deserves repeat listens (did i mention tom's soaring vocals)! with a trippy video directed by the awesome ben wheatley (sightseers, kill list), it's a fan boy explosion really!

foals - bad habit
what a great song! the song just keeps on adding new layers throughout making it both complex and beautiful at the same time. though the buzz around their album 'holy fire' has been exceptional, i have to admit this is the first song that's made an impact to me from their long player.

WEEKEND PICKS: the xx - fiction

the xx - fiction
my fave song from what turned out to be an underwhelming album by the xx, but months later, this track is still a beautiful reminder of how great this band can be when they get all the ingredients alined.
