villagers - becoming a jackal
[one of the more successful launches at sxsw, conor j o'brien (aka villagers) offers a beautiful lyrically acoustic sound on his debut album 'becoming a jackal'. with the backing of domino records, he's gearing up for a big push on the indie music scene. i'm definitely curious to hear more!

"Villagers is the performing and recording alias of solo artist Conor J O'Brien, but it's also the name of the band he employs when he gets tired of being alone. In his solo guise he has opened for Tindersticks and Neil Young, and with his band he has supported fellow Domino act Wild Beasts. In fact it was O'Brien's intention, when he set about recording his debut set Becoming a Jackal, to achieve the up-close-and-personal atmosphere of a Neil Young album. He has said that he didn't want to "dress it up too much", preferring to make it sound "like someone whispering in your ear, but also to get the epic-ness at times"."
