wongie top songs of 2007: #10 groove armada feat mutya buena - song for mutya

groove armada feat mutya buena - song for mutya [link 2]
[there's something really humorous about this seriously overlooked summer gem. the lyrics crack me up ("that's who has replaced me, what a dis") and the total embracing of 80's new wave pop further makes the lack of crossover success a real shame for everyone involved.]

[what an unfortunate shitteous video for one of the best songs of the summer! ignore the visuals and blast this on any soundsystem you have and just soak up the genius 80's groove! LOVE IT!]

share day: mutya & mika & mark (ronson)

i'm on a mini break, so i thought i'd leave you with some new gems for the weekend!

mutya - out of control (song for mutya)
[recorded with groove armada, the boys were actually scared to record with her since mutya seemed like a well... have you seen what the girl looks like?]

mika - love today (acoustic)
[actually this version is pretty dire, but if you're a die-hard fan you don't really care do you?]

mark ronson feat robbie williams - the only one i know
[his album of covers is wonderfully orchestrated, but kind of mediocre in the vocal department (even my gal amy winehouse sounds 'eh' on her studio version of valerie!). here he is with good ol robbie doing the classic charlatans tune.]

mutya - real girl (world premiere)

mutya - real girl
[i've been dying to hear this ever since popjustice raved about this song a week ago! sampling lenny kravitz 'it ain't over till it's over', mutya proves that there is life after the sugababes (and apparently beef too). with siobhan donaghy and her both releasing strong upcoming albums, i wonder what the remaining girls are going to do without their most talented vocalists?]
