b-side tuesday: scissor sisters, the killers, the polyphonic spree, the bluetones, muse, the streets, the dears

cause everyone already has the big hit singles of all these acts below, i've decided to bring you all their current b-sides for your pleasure instead. though after careful listening to some of these songs, it explains why they were kept off the final album track list, but hey, if you're fan, who cares!

scissor sisters - ambition [zshare]

the killers - all the pretty faces [zshare]

polyphonic spree - love my way [zshare]

the bluetones - your psychotic friend [zshare]

muse - easily [zshare]

the streets - dreams [zshare]

the dears - raise the dead [zshare]

new video monday

paris hilton - nothing in this world
(i can't believe it, not only is the song catchy, but the video uses the limited capabilities of paris to her fullest extent. wow!)

lil chris - checkin it out
(popjustice have been raving about this kid for a few weeks already and well... they were right. this song is super catchy even if it's from some kid from a reality show)

lemar - it's not that easy
(one of my fave songs these days. i love the thickness of his voice. too bad the video is boring)

janet feat khia - so excited
(the song is whatever, the album is whatever, but at least she's dancing quite nicely these days)

robbie williams - lovelight
(new video - eh)

moby collaborates with debbie harry for new greatest hits album

whether you love him or not, moby has had a very big impact on bringing dance music to the masses over the past decade. starting off as a rave icon, then slowly morphing into a record label priority by sampling soulful classics over snazzy beats (oh, and don't forget that he then licensed every track for commercial use and became a rich man in the process). no matter what he does, there's always a nice curiousity factor in moby's work that makes me return time after time.

so when i heard that he's recorded a few new tracks with debbie harry to put on his upcoming greatest hits collection go - the very best of moby, i was once again curious enough to hear how the sessions turned out.

though i'm not completely won over, the fact that these two new york icons have merged is enough reason to check out what they've done.
[one week only]

moby feat debbie harry - new york, new york (armand van helden radio mix)

oh and here's another one from the debbie harry sessions
moby feat debbie harry - go (2006) [zshare]

since there's no video for the single yet, check out the alternative video version of the song directed by local celeb reverend jen that's approved by moby himself.

[update 11/2006: check out moby talking about his version of new york on CNN]

while we're at it, can you believe that it's been 15 years since 'go' first was released? am i really that old? (don't answer)
check out the original video of moby's go.

i'm a cheeseball song of the week: faith hill / tim mcgraw - i need you

it's been awhile hasn't it? not only have i been away pretty much the whole month of september, but i've done something that i haven't done in a long time, i basically just stopped getting obsessed with my escapist outlets (movies, music, tv, books) and just kind of took in with life.

of course that doesn't mean entertainment elements didn't filter through. i spent a considerable amount of time in toronto for the amazing film festival (as seen in wongie's world). i browsed through a crazy load of music that made it on my desktop. i've also managed to see all the pilots and programmed my whole fall tv grid on my dvr.

it took awhile. but i'm ready to get back into it all.

you would think i'd come back with a bang, but instead, i go to a piece of television that i caught last week on my dvr between country husband and wife tim mcgraw/faith hill on the fashion rocks show.

with performances by beyonce/christina aguilera/scissor sisters and elton john, this quiet showcase was not only completely out of place, but impressively touching.

though the tune isn't due for release until tim's upcoming album in november, people are going crazy for it when they see it live (as did i). so pull up a chair and give yourself a good 4 minutes cause all you wanna do afterwards is sigh (or gack depending on how heartless you can be). me, i'm a cheeseball and i love it!

tim mcgraw & faith hill - i need you (live on oprah performance) [one week only]

better than the a-side single: check out the robbie williams rudebox b-side

we've all been a bit underwhelmed by the rudebox phenomenom but hopefully the rest of the robbie williams album will be more interesting.
until then, here is the b-side to the single and well, totally less annoying than rudebox. still not that great, but it'll do the trick for now.
