ONCE asks "what does it feel like to be in love"

Once
[call me a romantic (and maybe that's why i'm so enamored with this film), but the people over at ONCE want to know the answer to 'what it feels like to be in love'. if you have an opinion, i'd love to know in the comments section. sigh...]

Once - Hoover Guy (animated by Wendy Lee)
[simple and sweet, yet another musical highlight of the film, now set to stick drawings!]

I fell in love with this movie, too. Actually, it has become more of an obsession because for so long I have been dreaming of a movie just like this one. It reflects so much on how my life has been molded in the past 17 years. I could say, as a parallel with the movie's story, I represent more of the Girl's husband awaiting to be reunited with his family, than the main character, the Guy. But the backdrop for the way we have met (my wife Maria is Irish, living in Dublin with my little son Dario; I am originally Italian now living in NY), is very similar, although not through music been played by us, but through common taste for a sort of melodic and pop-rock type of folk music (very close to the one played by Hansard). We have created a mental "soundtrack" of the music that has enabled and that characterizes our relationship through the years and that conduit will keep us going, hopefully, for a long time to come. Every year we add new songs to what we call "our songs", and we rejoice every time that a certain song is played, whenever we are together. Obviously , I can't wait to see the movie again with Maria and add some of those incredible and heartwarming songs to our life's "soundtrack". I can't believe we never even thought of The Frames! And to think that they have formed right around the time we met (Oct. 1990), and that the latest album was released on my birthday should be more that just a coincidence...

P.S. Maria has an incredible knack for assimilating a whole song's lyrics and sing it back almost immediately. She regrets not having pursued a career in singing. This reminds so much of Marketa in the movie, although in real life Marketa has been fulfilling all her dreams.
