nicki minaj - barbie tingz

nicki minaj - chun li
it's here! FINALLY we get to see the two videos accompanying nicki minaj's excellent releases! with 'barbie tingz' nicki collaborates with creative giovanni bianco to make a sparse but colorful piece that matches the sass of her retro celebratory jam. on 'chun-li' superstar photographer steven klein takes the reins and gives us some of his seriously kick ass vision. they're both fun to watch and gives us the nicki that we've been hankering for quite some time!

WONGIE LIVE PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK: justin timberlake & chris stapleton - tennessee whiskey / drink you away (live @ CMA awards)

justin timberlake & chris stapleton - tennessee whiskey / drink you away
chris stapleton is easily one of the best 'new' acts to come out this year. with his gravelly soulful voice, the man gives me goosebumps every time he opens up his mouth. for this years CMA awards the singer/songwriter walked away with 3 big awards including album AND male vocalist of the year. if you've never seen this man perform get ready to freak out with this AMAZING live performance with his special guest justin timberlake (and morgane stapleton who is always on perfect harmony with chris). these three tear the roof off and you will be so happy for pressing play!

COOL SONGS FOR YOUR WEEK: chet faker - 1998

chet faker - 1998
the hot album track gets a cool animated accompanied video by artist grace lee. calling it a 'banger', chet's latest album 'built in glass' is getting serious buzz and might just break him worldwide. digging this track for sure!

POP MIX: pj morton feat adam levine - heavy

pj morton feat adam levine - heavy
even though pj morton has been filling in as maroon 5's keyboardist, the soul singer is readying for his debut album to be released later this year. packed with bluesy soul jams and gospel influences, his 1st single 'heavy' is a good representation of this talented performer. time to get your soul jam on!

WONGIE SOUL SONG OF THE WEEK: paloma faith - can't rely on you

paloma faith - can't rely on you
dropping all the epic drama from her previous album, paloma opts for SOUL-ful drama with her new pharrell williams produced new single setting up her upcoming new album 'a perfect contradiction'. we've always known the girl could sing, but did we know she could let it rip like she does here? kind of awesome!

WONGIE SOUL SONG OF THE WEEK: the internet - dontcha

the internet - dontcha
where the heck did this sweet soul duo come from? made up of syd the kid (vocals) and matt martians (producer/ co-songwriter), the two actually hail from the odd future collective working as their touring dj and illustrator (respectively) before sneaking off to record some demos of their own. the resounding interest led to them getting together a group of friends and recording this wonderfully laid back soul jam that just makes you wanna mellow boogie. can't wait to hear what other gems they have on their forthcoming album 'feel good'!

VIDEO PREMIERE!: eminem - berzerk

eminem - berzerk
this fun rick rubin produced homage to old skool rap also features a slew of cameos by kendrick lamar, slaughterhouse, alchemist, kid rock and even the main producer himself (he's the one with the crazy beard!) in the video. the groove is sick which makes me definitely curious about what else is in store for the upcoming 'the marshall mathers LP part 2'!

WONGIE REGGAE SONG OF THE WEEK: shy fx feat liam bailey - soon come

shy fx feat liam bailey - soon come
taking you on a bit of an old skool tip, drum n bass producer shy fx has decided to record a full on reggae album due later this year. working with vocalist liam bailey, the first release gets you in the total mood of a lazy scorching summer. nice one.
