WONGIE HAPPY SONG OF THE WEEK: walk the moon - anna sun

walk the moon - anna sun
[these ohio indie pop boys offer up one of the most joyous songs of the season (and silly one take choreographed video to boot!) i dare you to not offer up a cheesy grin after hearing the swirling guitars and sing a long chorus. love these boys!]

WONGIE INDIE HIP HOP SONG OF THE WEEK: benny banks - bada bing!

benny banks - bada bing!
[here's one for the tip board, 24 year old london rapper benny banks is coming on strong for 2012 as an artist to watch. with a killer hook and stank face grime, his debut single 'bada bing!' is a hot intro to someone you'll be hearing alot more of in the coming months. i'm in! oh and TURN IT UP!]

POP BOY: olly murs - oh my goodness

olly murs - oh my goodness
[bless our boy olly! he's so affable that chasing after a girl (aka chase stalking) is still considered cute when it's done by him. not as strong as his previous singles, but i'm sure you'll be humming along to this in no time]

NEW MADONNA!: madonna - girl gone wild

madonna - girl gone wild
[i have to say, when a woman with all the resources of creativity at her disposal, comes up with something so disposABLE, it's hard not to be a hater. even the background arrangement by benny benassi (who is usually so good) is kind of lackadaisical... c'mon already madonna... make GREAT music!!!]

jay z and kanye west - ni**as in paris
[that sh*t cray! turn it up if you haven't bopped you head cray for this track!]

WONGIE SONG OF THE MONTH: taylor swift feat the civil wars - safe and sound

taylor swift feat the civil wars - safe and sound
[we tipped this song back in december and have been swooning over the intricate harmonies and taylor's subtle vocals. with the hunger games coming out in a few weeks, it's appropriate that a video is FINALLY out. i'm psyched on all levels!]

WONGIE BALLAD OF THE WEEK: jason mraz - i won't give up (video premiere)

jason mraz - i won't give up (video premiere)
[here is a perfect example of how the video doesn't match the song. nicely shot profiles of downtrodden humans is kind of meh don't you think? a storyline video would have had more emotional impact. oh well, the song is still my fave ballad of the week!]

WONGIE SONG OF THE MONTH: usher - climax

usher - climax
[oh my gosh, producer diplo done good! he's managed to make usher super sexy and sensitive and heartbreaking, all the while with hypnotic instrumentation in the background. just brilliant! i'm obsessed!]

NEW CHRIS BROWN!: chris brown - turn up the music / turn up the music (feat rihanna)

oof! talk about backfire... just when people were willing to overlook the rihanna incident for his strong collection of recent hits, chris brown and riri decided to cameo on each other's releases, giving off a very unfortunate subtext that it's ok with what went down 3 years ago. i'm definitely curious to see how their misguided choice will affect the releases (especially this one since it's such a solid pop gem)

NEW KATY PERRY!: katy perry - part of me

katy perry - part of me
[breakup = number 1 ! who'd of thought that getting her heart broken in real life would translate to the 7th #1 single of her career!]

JUS STOOPID: lmfao - sorry for party rocking

lmfao - sorry for party rocking
[all i can say is dj redfoo makes a good looking woman! oh and this will probably seep into your subconscious so deeply you'll be dancing to it in no time... argh!]

coldplay - charlie brown
[nice song (love the last 30 secs of this song), but i'm kind of hoping for the remixes to kick in soon!]

NEW ADAM LAMBERT!: adam lambert - better than i know myself

adam lambert - better than i know myself
[he's baaaack and he's got the songwriting talents of dr luke (katy perry) and claude kerry (jessie j) helping out with his return. it's an epic drama ballad that is so perfect for adam and his fans.]
