after taking herself way to seriously the past few videos, our girl taylor has reunited with director joseph kahn (again!) and is dancing her way back in our collective hearts with goofy movements and facial adorkability. it helps that this song is awesome too (one of our faves of last year). the only problem is the barefoot situation (LA is not clean taylor!) so hopefully she disinfected those feet by the end of the shoot!

NEW TAYLOR SWIFT: taylor swift feat ed sheeran & future - end game

taylor swift feat ed sheeran & future - end game
the logistics of shooting in miami / tokyo / london must have been craaazy, but if anyone can make it look like a fun experience it'll be t-swift video collaborator joseph kahn who's given this song serious cred. it basically is a verse an artist number that makes up for alot of hip hop 'remixes' these days. it's nice to see taylor try something like this, but now i'm curious about what the ACTUAL remix will sound like and who will she get to verse on that one...

NEW TAYLOR SWIFT: taylor swift - ready for it?

taylor swift - ready for it?
there's something missing from the music that taylor swift has put out ahead of her new album 'reputation'. it's like she's making music that 'should' be populist but lacks the soul that used to set her apart as a singer/songwriter that could make great pop songs along the way. the end result just seems immature and soulless. at least they spent a crapload of money and joseph kahn made her look amazing.

VIDEO PREMIERE: taylor swift - look what you made me do

taylor swift - look what you made me do
[UPDATE: look what director joseph kahn and tswift did! mocking all the memes of taylor since the beginning of her career, this is pretty much the creation of taylor 3.0. it's also a hellofva fun video, so hopefully this will mark the end of the woe me era and into a more interesting look forward. we shall see.]
she's back! what do you think of the comeback song? rumored to be based around her feud with kanye & kim, the real news is that there's apparently a loop of right said fred's 'i'm too sexy' in this jack antonoff produced song. can you hear it?

VIDEO PREMIERE: zayn & taylor swift - i don't wanna live forever (OST fifty shades darker)

zayn & taylor swift - i don't wanna live forever (OST fifty shades darker)
with valentines day right around the corner, that means we get to celebrate the most romantic day of the year with some good ol fashioned bdsm loving thanks to fifty shades! to be honest the soundtrack has always been better than the film itself and this round gets a kick off thanks to this uber catchy zayn / taylor swift duet. throw in a very adult look for our pop princess and we are heading into a new chapter in the t-swift transformation. oh and zayn still has the best looking eyes in pop!

NEW LITTLE BIG TOWN!: little big town - better man

little big town - better man
after releasing a special gospel tinged pharrell produced side project earlier this year, my fave country group little big town return to what they do best, catchy country music that pretty much are insta hits in the coming months. written by taylor swift, remember to stay on til midway when karen fairchild goes acapella. chills i say! chills!

GRAMMYS 2016 HIGHLIGHTS: kendrick lamar, hamilton, stevie wonder + pentatonix, little big town, alabama shakes, lady gaga, taylor swift

though this years grammys clocked in at a solid 3 1/2 hours (!!!), the show managed to get some seriously exceptional performances from the nominees/winners. here are my fave performances of the night (and no, adele's painful mic clanging performance didn't make the cut)

kendrick lamar - the blacker the berry / alright
seriously this is one of the best things i've seen on grammys PERIOD. intense, political and just showcasing the lyrical genius that is kendrick, no wonder he walked away with 4 awards by the end of the night!

hamilton cast - alexander hamilton
the closest thing that most of us will get to seeing hamilton up close and personal (sold out thru the summer yo!!), the show also picked up a grammy soon afterwards!

stevie wonder & pentatonix - that's the way of the world
this awesome vocal moment is what happens when stevie wonder collaborates with the acapella act pentatonix to celebrate the music of earth wind & fire's maurice white. bliss.

little big town - girl crush
i've seen so many excellent live performances of this song, but stripping it down to just strings is pretty darn wonderful. congrats on the 2 grammys btw!

alabama shakes - don't wanna fight
seriously brittany howard is pure vocal goddess. 3 wins. nuff said.

lady gaga + intel - david bowie tribute
gaga's tribute to bowie was also an interesting visual experiment that was at once beautiful to watch and camp extravaganza. which in the spirit of bowie is exactly what he would have enjoyed.

taylor swift - out of the woods
i gotta say our tswift hit some serious notes in this performance and then gave a solid third finger speech to kanye when she picked up the album of the year award. nice one t!

adele - all i ask
ok fine, here is the adele performance that not only started messed up (the mic fell on the piano and made clanging noises) but you can see it jarred her singing until she just decided to sing through the mistake. but yeah, not a great one...

VIDEO PREMIERE: taylor swift - out of the woods

taylor swift - out of the woods
co-written by jack antonoff (the bleachers), taylor kicks off the new year with a retro 80's soundtrack directed by joseph kahn allegedly based on her relationship with harry styles. setting up the one year anniversary of the '1989' album release, it also further proves that there are still some bigs hits to come out from this wonderful collection. what a nice start to the new year!

SOUL GAL: kehlani feat coucheron - alive / feat charlie puth - hotline bling (drake cover)

kehlani feat coucheron - alive
you know you've hit breaking point appreciation when taylor swift name checks your song as one of her current favorites. for the multi-cultural kehlani, the bay area singer/songwriter is breaking into the mainstream after her popular mixtape 'you should be here' generated a million streams in a day. celebrating 90's r&b kehlani is readying for her debut album with the official release of this breezy island love jam. she's on our radar and should be on yours too!

kehlani x charlie puth - hotline bling (drake cover)
hot damn! stripping down drake's single to the bare minimum, charlie & kehlani sound perfect on their duet cover of this hot jam. LOVE THIS!!

WONGIE COVER OF THE WEEK: ryan adams - blank space (taylor swift 1989 cover)

ryan adams - blank space (taylor swift 1989 cover)
going on the daily show with new host trevor noah, ryan adams performed three numbers from his 1989 cover album for the first time and it was glorious. i've been coming back to this number as his melancholic version has been the perfect soundtrack to our chilly wet northeast climes these days. LOVE this album!!!

ALBUM STREAM: ryan adams - 1989 (taylor swift album)

ryan adams - 1989 (taylor swift album)
a total curiosity, singer songwriter ryan adams spent the summer covering taylor swift's '1989' album and the result is this celebration of her songs. allowing us to hear her music through a different filter, some of these covers are surprisingly wonderful. awesome!
