oh damn! this burns produced new track for britney spears is actually good... like REALLY good! by the time the harmonious chorus kicks in, i'm totally sold on this hopefully new direction of our pop princess. please don't release anything with the word 'bitch' in it ever again!
ellie goulding x burns - midas touch (midnight star cover)
offered as a bonus track from her 'halcyon days' expanded collection, it's always awesome to hear ellie rework popular songs into her style. throw in the dance producer burns and you get this cool dark number perfect for your headphones.

When you go about listening to your favorite song of the year, one quickly starts to see the pattern that most of these songs sound like they belong in a post john hughes outsider coming of age/first heartbreak soundtrack for the new decade. Just playing all the songs within this grouping makes me realize that if anyone is looking for a music supervisor of something similar, please look me up!
Besides the cinematic pop epicness of clock opera, niki and the dove, kindness, paloma faith (drama ballad of the year yo!) and even drake feat riri, dance also featured heavily in my 2012 soundtrack with the heartbreaking burns, hypnotic purity ring, new wave-y tanlines and pure poppery of carly rae jepson (her 2nd track "tonight i'm getting over you" is just brilliant and destined to be a massive hit in 2013) all go to tracks. Finally one of my fave breakout acts of 2012 Lianne La Havas offers up 2 gems from her awesome debut. I can't wait to see what this year will bring for this talented singer/songwriter!

i know the otto knows remix is the version that's bringing this track to the fore, but the original version is just melancholic and mesmerizing (plus i'm obsessed with the drumline beats throughout the song). turn it up and get lost in this awesome song already!
