with the album release of 'shrines. another eternity' just around the corner, purity ring offer this album track for the fans. though the electro pop sound is still front and center, there does seem to be a larger production going on in the background (a more mature sound perhaps?) i'm excited!!!!

it's been two years since purity ring have put out new material and the wait has been totally worth it cause this dreamy indie pop gem is all sorts of awesome! with little info about the upcoming new album, this is a good teaser for all the fans.

funnily enough, this is probably the best vocal megan james has done in awhile (since purity ring's cool music doesn't really challenge her range). but it's definitely a fun and timely cover for the week!

When you go about listening to your favorite song of the year, one quickly starts to see the pattern that most of these songs sound like they belong in a post john hughes outsider coming of age/first heartbreak soundtrack for the new decade. Just playing all the songs within this grouping makes me realize that if anyone is looking for a music supervisor of something similar, please look me up!
Besides the cinematic pop epicness of clock opera, niki and the dove, kindness, paloma faith (drama ballad of the year yo!) and even drake feat riri, dance also featured heavily in my 2012 soundtrack with the heartbreaking burns, hypnotic purity ring, new wave-y tanlines and pure poppery of carly rae jepson (her 2nd track "tonight i'm getting over you" is just brilliant and destined to be a massive hit in 2013) all go to tracks. Finally one of my fave breakout acts of 2012 Lianne La Havas offers up 2 gems from her awesome debut. I can't wait to see what this year will bring for this talented singer/songwriter!

you know you've hit hipster mainstream when you get an awesome director like ag rojas working on your latest video. though this isn't really my fave track off their 'shrines' album, this is definitely my fave video from the canadian electro outfit.

[whoa! what is this electronic weirdness coming out from montreal? the duo of megan james and corin roddick are making art pop with a dash of hip hop beats thrown in. with a debut album 'shrines' due in july, you have loads of time to get accustomed to their left of center genius!]
