WE HEART SAM SMITH: sam smith - money on my mind (le youth remix) / nirvana (live @ abbey road) / together (live @ bbc 1xtra live lounge)

with the first remixes of sam smith's latest single coming out (thanks to the wonderful le youth), i figured i'd also throw in some choice live performances in anticipation of his upcoming brit awards appearance next month. but really any excuse to spend 10 mins listening to this talent is worth your time don't you think?

WONGIE SONG OF THE WEEK: yasmin - on my own / on my own (live @ bbc 1xtra maida vale)

yasmin - on my own
[holy shizz! an awesome song to land on my doorstep just weeks before the end of the year! dj yasmin shahmir rolled around in hip hop circles before mixing it up with the UK dubstep/grime scene. the result is a multi-influenced 1st single that has some serious urban swagger mixed in with old school massive attack vocals and a killer end credits drum beat that just begs to be looped! produced by the ever amazing shy fx, this song is friggin awesome and if i didn't hear it now, i would have claimed this as 2011's 1st great single. darn!]

yasmin - on my own (live @ bbc 1xtra maida vale)
[check out yasmin as she performs this song live at bbc. LOVE her!]
