how did i miss the release of this video two weeks back? my fave girl group offer up a track that comes across as a hot mess, but weirdly in the hands of little mix, is kind of fun. throw in the most colorful unicorn explosion of a video (drag queens, biker chicks, moms!) and you've got one of the guilty pleasures around.

it's been awhile since i've posted some fun kpop for my people, so i figured i'd kick off my 2016 occasional coverage with the girl group 4minute and their skrillex produced single 'hate'. to be honest, every dance move and image feels a bit over thought wannabe 2ne1 to me, but the girls have offered a catchy dubsteppy pop song for your day. all good!

the sats are offering up single #5 (!!) from their album 'living for the weekend', and in their typical fashion, they showcase their lack of dancing skills (this time hidden with light sticks!) and budget (it's a podium... with light sticks!) but as a fan i kind of don't care. they're a camp hoot and they know it!

i bet icona pop is bumming they didn't get their hands on this insta catchy number! as a debut track this is pretty darn spectacular, plus as a new pop group, the girls look pretty ready made for prime time. for now, this is interesting...

x-factor us finally puts out a pop act that's releasable. i love how these girls don't really harmonize (what?!) and they are practically drowning in the overproduction of the song. BUT luckily the song is hook laden and rocked out enough that it might just be catchy enough to make us forget it's shortcomings. ok then... when can little mix show em how it should be done?

AUDIO BUZZ: destiny's child - nuclear

with the just announced compilation album 'love songs' and possible appearance during beyonce's superbowl halftime performance, destiny's child has released this brand new 90's heavily inspired single (produced by pharrell) "nuclear" to the masses. it's a nice slow burn with a beautiful lush sound that feels like it was discovered in a time capsule. nice one!

i heart these sisters immensely especially since they make the most catchy tunes that celebrates all the wonderful elements of retro 70's pop and soul. we're already massive fans of their debut single 'forever' and now they can cement our love with this fleetwood mac-esque gem! obsess over these girls already!

[i'm like a moth to a flame when it comes to girl bands, so when i read that there's a new one in the horizon named parade, i just had to give them a listen (and boy what a happy camper i am because of it!) using all the pop songwriting tricks in the book (group singalong chorus! funky electric boogaloo groove that shows up unexpectantly! retro 60's piano chords!), i can only look forward to more pop gems from this quintet (though can somebody fire the stylist cause really, 'more' isn't necessarily good!). welcome to the pop world ladies!]
