to be honest the thought of food (i LOVE me some queso!) brought me to the world of new orleans based hip hop rapper pell. but sometimes these shallow reasons brings a positive outcome as his catchy 70's afro retro infused single has been on repeat since discovering it last week. already buzzed as a one to watch on loads of tastemaker music sites, let this be my hype addition to an exciting new artist to keep an eye out for!

to be honest, this new ceelo green track is made even more awesome with the theme song from the classic tv series 'taxi' as it's backing sample. other than that, it's a fine soul number that doesn't really scream 'comeback' for this artist.

celebrating his compton roots, kendrick has ironically placed a throne in his driveway to not only give thanks to his background but also wax judgement on the lazy lyrics of his fellow rap peers. the man is a genius in my book!

discovered in the vaults of legendary producer arthur baker's collection, chromeo and mstrkrft's al-p have joined forces to add vocals and FINALLY finish up this track 35 years later. this is the kind of disco we need back in our lives!

WEEKEND CATCH UP: lana del rey - west coast / shades of cool (audio premiere)

with these two songs, you get a glimpse of the 70's cinematic dreamy soundtrack that will be the upcoming lana del rey album 'ultraviolence' (inspired by 'the clockwork orange' by anthony burgess). it's going to be a musical adventure if you ask me, rendering me totally curious!

i heart these sisters immensely especially since they make the most catchy tunes that celebrates all the wonderful elements of retro 70's pop and soul. we're already massive fans of their debut single 'forever' and now they can cement our love with this fleetwood mac-esque gem! obsess over these girls already!
