jessica sanchez and neyo - tonight
american idol alum jessica sanchez offered up her debut single produced and written by ne-yo and it's surprisingly catchy. her smokey voice and star presence makes me think this girl actually has a chance in the pop arena. more to come on this gal...

conor maynard has definitely turned into one of the few successful solo acts to breakout in 2012. not only does he crank out catchy pop hit after hit, but some of them are seriously good. case in point, his recent collaboration with neyo which is kind of a slice of pop perfection. the lyrics are whatever, but the song itself is just... perfect. throw in his latest audio preview, this is a good intro to one of my fave acts of 2012 if you don't already love him.
calvin harris feat ne-yo - let's go
[honestly i really fought hard to ignore this song cause the lyrics are cheese and the song structure has been done by calvin loads of times. but then i saw the cross continent video and found myself singing it in the shower the next day! argh!!!! the power of pop!]
pitbull feat neyo, afrojack and nayer - give me everything
[oh my gosh, this song is so cheesy that it's virtually perfect. i've been fighting it like the plague and well, it finally broke my defenses down. i'm a fan!]
rihanna - russian roulette [from rolling stone: The wait is officially ova: Rihanna’s “Russian Roulette,” the first single off her upcoming album Rated R, debuted this morning at approximately 11:23 a.m. EST at the official RihannaNow Website. “Roulette” opens up with a desperado guitar lick that hints at an impending shootout before the throbbing and foreboding bassline that carries the track settles in. The dark ballad, which Ne-Yo wrote and produced, seems to find Rihanna singing about enduring a tumultuous relationship and keeping faith in a dangerous boyfriend.]
neyo - closer [link 2] [my thing about the talented r&b singer songwriter neyo is that on my ipod, i'm a big fan. his brand of r&b is not only extremely easy on the ears, but very nostalgic and emotional. it's when i see him on stage or on video that i kind of have to remind myself that i'm a fan. first of all, the man is no michael jackson (so really, don't try to dance like him). plus, he attempts to be some kind of stud muffin which just doesn't work (no, REALLY doesn't work). so why hype the guy? as i said, i honestly like listening to his music. if only we lived in a radio era again...]
rihanna feat ne-yo - hate that i love you [link 2] [now this is the way a pop song and video should be. yet another gem from the surprisingly wonderful good girl gone bad album, i've been listening to this song all summer so the fact that it's finally a single just rocks. throw in a gorgeous rihanna and a nice bittersweet twist at the end makes this the best video of the week. LOVE IT! thanks to xolondon and perez hilton for the tip.]
green day - working class hero [all proceeds for this song will go to the save darfur campaign. so buy it at itunes please. thanks to ifmv for the tip]
fratellis - ole black n blue eyes [gosh, how many singles are there for these boys? yet another dynamic catchy tune from glasgow's current best!]
klaxons - it's not over yet (james ford sessions) [still love the original grace version, but this is not a bad cover]
maps - it will find you [discovered this band when a friend tipped me off about them (thanks neil) and then listened to it at the rough trade store in notting hill. definitely a band i'm keeping an eye out for now!]
ne yo - do you [latest single from ne-yo. totally feeling it]
james morrison - undiscovered [gosh, has it been single #4 already? call me a cheese ball, but i just really love the tone of james' voice and it helps that his songs are so darn catchy.]
the fratellis - baby fratelli [i'm slowly beginning to LOVE this band with every listen of their debut album costello music. the fact that the hilarious film hot fuzz (starring my unofficial boyfriend simon pegg) has used this song as their theme makes me love the guys even more!]
jamelia - no more [even though this samples the stranglers (imagine the money it cost!) the song still emotes a nice honest sound that i haven't heard from jamelia in awhile]
avril lavigne - girlfriend [this 80's girl punk meets 60's girl group sound really works for me. too bad avril is such a cow in real life.]
ne yo - because of you [love this r&b singer/songwriter, but can he stop trying to a)dance b)pretend to be a sex symbol it's just kind of gross really.]
little man tate - this must be love [what a pub band. the lead singer is kind of cute in that normal kind of way.]
arcade fire - keep the car running (live on snl) [i know that neon bible is already old news for loads of people, but i have to be honest and say that i have yet to really sit down and listen to the album from beginning to end. that doesn't mean i don't enjoy this band, i'm just lazy...]
arctic monkeys - brianstorm [so it's really called brian-storm. ok. the weirder fact is that they have made a video with booty crazy dancers. what has the world come to?]
bonde do role - solta o frango [a wongie favorite a few months back, i'm just psyched that i'm checking out this band at the end of this month (with producer diplo on dj decks to boot!)]
calvin harris - acceptable in the 80's [is this guy really as amazing as the hype around him? i'm not so sure, but the retro love in this song makes me tolerate him for now.]
