conor maynard - royalty
i have to be honest here, as much as i'm a fan of conor maynard, i much prefer his previous single 'talking about' than this jazzy pop number. hopefully there are better songs in the upcoming album to choose from.
conor maynard - royalty (live @ red bull music)
actually this stripped down version is MUCH better. they really should do a remix with a more ragtime arrangement.
conor maynard - talking about
after taking a mini break, uk youtube soul pop sensation conor maynard returns with this fun house pop number that he's been teasing for the past few weeks with the help other youtube stars (conor's team got these youtubers to do a cover version of the song before the public got to hear one note of the official single!) it's hella catchy and on repeat for the week!
conor maynard - r u crazy
flipping between smooth soul and hip hop, this is a taster of what conor will be offering us for his upcoming 2nd album. kind of digging it!
As we get closer to the Top 10, one wonders how pop icons like Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran all got shafted into the Top 20 instead! Of course they all offered some serious tracks for the year (Riri with her club anthems, Taylor supplying some of the best pop ballads - and the heartbreaking Ronan, Ellie bringing her form of future pop and Ed just writing endless hit after hit) but somehow it still wasn't enough to break the 10.
As for the rest of the Top 20, they offer up a wonderful 'best of' 2012: Jake Bugg (the best old skool rockabilly young singer of the year! his energy is amazing!), Conor Maynard (the best pop boy vocalist out at the moment), Bastille (the best indie pop dude of last year and maybe this one!), Icona Pop (the best kick you in the neck bratty bitch song of the last year!), 2ne1 (the best kpop song of last year - it's 5 songs in one and all of them are catchy!) and Grimes (the best hipster girl pop song of the year - literally EVERYONE i know sings along to this song when they hear it).
conor maynard feat wiley - animal
what i love about conor is that his music is actually pretty sophisticated for a pop boy. the grooves are nasty enough but not so much to alienate his teen audience, his songs are catchy in all the best ways and yet there is a twist of legitimacy mixed in all this. easily one of my fave pop acts of 2012 and he'll definitely feature on my year end list. turn it up!
conor maynard has definitely turned into one of the few successful solo acts to breakout in 2012. not only does he crank out catchy pop hit after hit, but some of them are seriously good. case in point, his recent collaboration with neyo which is kind of a slice of pop perfection. the lyrics are whatever, but the song itself is just... perfect. throw in his latest audio preview, this is a good intro to one of my fave acts of 2012 if you don't already love him.
conor maynard - vegas girl
[though this track isn't as insanely catchy as his debut single, the making of conor maynard as fun pop boy with soul edge is definitely working out nicely. vegas girl is not only catchy, but proves that people are willing to make a creative cause out of anything! (ok maybe not)]
conor maynard and felicity abbott - take care (drake feat rihanna cover)
[i am OBSESSED with this song at the moment, so to have my new fave pop boy conor do a lovely cover just adds to my love for the original. nice one this!]
conor maynard - can't say no
[houston, we definitely have a problem! this UK kid is going to do some serious rounds on the screaming girls front (heck, his fans already call themselves mayniacs). and like the bieber, conor made his viral name via posting covers on youtube. the kid is talented and the fact that his debut single has some serious neck bouncin grooves shows me that there's some interesting releases in the horizon. like!]
