WONGIE SOUL SONG OF THE WEEK: rebecca ferguson - too good to lose / too good to lose (seamus haji remix)

rebecca ferguson - too good to lose
[now this is more like it, rebecca ferguson offers her latest single and it's the perfect blend of retro and modern soul (you can hear shades of the soul house classic 'you got the love' in the background). the video makes no sense whatsoever (um... did they really have to fly over to venice beach to walk down it aimlessly?), but it is nice to see our shy UK x-factor runner up smile so freely in the sun.]

want a more upbeat interpretation? check out this perfectly hands up in the air remix by the ever reliable seamus haji:

[the 2005 album continues to crank out hit after hit (this would be the 5th single for the UK market alone!) and with a US release set for later this year, robyn hopefully will translate her success here on our shores. produced by the amazing brother/sister duo the knife, this is easily one of my favorite pop songs of the moment!]

more new videos: cherry ghost, keren ann, just jack

cherry ghost - people help the people [link 2]
[as i mentioned a few days back, this is on serious loop for me the past few days. maybe it's the simplicity of the song, or the fact that it's little slice of americana channelled through a band from manchester. can't wait to check out their debut album thirst for romance next month!]

keren ann - lay your head down
[looking at her myspace page, frenchie keren ann is now an official new yorker. maybe that's why this song sounds very velvet underground-y to me. check out the 1st single taken off her self titled album. also, thanks to brooklyn vegan for the tip]

just jack - writer's block (seamus haji remix)
[a re-release of this wonderful single, now set to the remix of seamus haji. i'm kind of a fan of the original, but if this means more mainstream success, then so be it!]

remix baby: just jack - writers block (seamus haji big love remix)

just jack - writers block (seamus & haji big love remix)

[seamus haji seem to be everywhere these days! the indian/irish remixer is also becoming quite the producer with the single booty luv in the top 10 this week. this time around, he creates a nice low key housed up number on one of my fave uk singer/rappers of the moment. boogie-licious if you ask me]
