this has been an album favorite since the very beginning, so for shawn mendes to FINALLY put it out with the zedd remix as an official single is just the icing on the cake. with a video inspired by 'lost in translation' and co-starring '13 reasons why' star alisha boe, this jay martin directed video is just pure joy to watch! love everything about this!

welcome to the power ballad section of the shawn mendes discography! at it's midnight release fans were given a nice surprise new single that starts off like an acoustic ballad but kicks into full on rock pop territory that showcases a possible more adventurous direction with his upcoming album. we shall see, until then, play. swoon. repeat.

a week later, shawn gave his best soulful pop presentation in the form of 'lost in japan', offering a breezy jam that is more than what basic folks are calling a JT knockoff. this song is just a solid number that easily will play through the rest of the summer. love this!!

took them long enough to make an official video for shawn mendes pop smash. part of the deluxe edition of his album 'illuminate', this song just stands the test of time as it still brings a wonderful amount of joy after two months of release. one of my contenders of the song of summer 2017 if you ask me!
