after a two year absence aussie singer/songwriter (and wongie fave) returns with the highly psychedelic single 'no ordinary life' channeling some serious willy wonka inspirations. what's also wonderful is that the beautiful song is a vocally subtle number that doesn't feature matt doing the soaring vocals that we've all come to love and expect. looks like this new album will be an adventure for all of us! yaay!

welcome to the power ballad section of the shawn mendes discography! at it's midnight release fans were given a nice surprise new single that starts off like an acoustic ballad but kicks into full on rock pop territory that showcases a possible more adventurous direction with his upcoming album. we shall see, until then, play. swoon. repeat.

a week later, shawn gave his best soulful pop presentation in the form of 'lost in japan', offering a breezy jam that is more than what basic folks are calling a JT knockoff. this song is just a solid number that easily will play through the rest of the summer. love this!!

[UPDATED with video!] it's the return of kylie!!!!!! the new easy on the ears pop jam gives us a world where kylie channels dolly parton if she were a country pop star today. co-written by amy wadge (ed sheeran) & sky adams (barns courtney) this number kicks off kylie's new album 'golden' which promises tracks that's on par with us celebrating 30 years of her in the business. this is a GREAT start!

taken off his upcoming 'the greatest gift mixtape', this is a track that was never used for sufjan's last album 'carrie & lowell'. now it's part of 4 unreleased songs mixed in with demos and alternate versions of those sessions. it's a beautiful heartbreaking story of sufjan and his mother and i'm so happy that he's shared it with his fans. SO good!

giving his fans the closing song of his upcoming album 'the thrill of it all', the lyrics to 'pray' seem to channel the current state of mind culminating with the rousing lyrics of 'everyone prays in the end'. it's a admirable sentiment helped by the producing skills of timbaland (who knew he could do a gospel ballad like this?)
