[about 7 years back, during a visit to sydney, australia, i discovered a young brisbane group by the name of george in which lead singer katie noonan drew me in instantly with her soft soulful voice. it turns out i wasn't the only one. their awesome debut album polyserena went platinum in 3 weeks and the group quickly became stars overnight. though their 2004 follow up album unity didn't fare as well, katie's voice still remained one of my all time favorites. so imagine my total surprise today when i discovered that katie has now gone solo and is on the verge of releasing her debut solo album skin in a month! with the single 'time to begin' as her first release, it looks like the album will be a mix of soulful jazzy tunes and some indie folk influences. personally, the girl can sing a phone book and i wouldn't mind!]
