10 SONGS OF THE WEEK WE LOVE ft christine and the queens / husky / little may / odesza / sheppard / seafret / vianney / generationals / christian gregory
to be very honest, ALL of these songs are wongie songs of the week. but with a bit of a hiatus coming up (work abroad), i figured i'd do a few BIG posts of these amazing songs for you to discover in your own time. they are gems and deserve your love. enjoy these cram mixes!
christine and the queens - saint claude
inspired by her visit to london and immersing herself in the drag community, héloïse letissier (aka christine and the queens) has quickly become the french hipster/fashionista pop star of the moment. if subdued, yet impactful singles like this one are part of her repertoire, we'll be hearing ALOT more from this gem.
husky - i'm not coming back
the perfect post summer folk jam from aussie band husky. setting up their sophomore release 'ruckers hill', this is an exciting tease of things to come!
little may - boardwalks
i mean how can you not love this gentle number from the aussie trio? with their debut EP coming out in october, this is a great single to kickstart their buzz. just wonderful!
odesza feat monsoonsiren - memories that you call
odesza feat zyra - say my name
wait, this glorious sound comes from seattle? college friends harrison mills and clayton knight are definitely gaining overground attention these days with their beautiful layered pop electronica. we love them so much that we are showcasing two tracks from their upcoming 'in return' album!
sheppard - something's missing
we've already fallen in love with this vocal folk pop act through their awesome singalong hit 'geronimo'. it's great to know that they have more equally catchy and charming songs up their sleeves. LOVE these guys!
seafret - give me something
this young UK duo are causing quite a stir with their beautifully acoustic debut single. it's quietly heartbreaking and just the perfect kind of music for me to get obsessive about! brilliant!
vianney - je te deteste
what a fun perfect pop song by debut french artist vianney. a definite local hit over the summer, the song's catchy framework translates beyond language into a gem for your audio pleasure. love this!
generationals - black lemon
high school buddies ted joyner and grant widmer have given us a perfect end of summer pop jam with happy electro boppiness that'll just make you smile. nice one!
christian gregory - count on you
released via michael kiwanuka's label, this retro soul number by new artist christian was recorded in one take! ONE TAKE! this marks for a very exciting debut if you ask me!
