[in conjunction with new album details of roisin murphy's upcoming album overpowered, a few b-sides emerged on the interweb. co-writing songs with the likes of Seiji, Andy Cato (Groove Armada), Jimmy Douglass, Ill Factor, Parrot & Dean and Richard X, the new album promises to be an ode to the dancefloor where, according to the press release, "pop meets dance and gives birth to a glitter-drenched masterpiece". if the tracks above are just b-sides, i can only imagine what the album sounds like!]

this has been an amazing music year so far with new stuff coming at me daily (much that i've shared back to you). but amoung the batch, a few acts have filtered through and kept on returning to my personal playlists.

since it feels like such a slow week, i figured now is probably the best time to re-introduce some of the artist highlights of 2007 from january to june (in no particular order):

with a late summer release of her new album (allegedly titled 'overpowered'), roisin murphy is gearing up for some serious adulation from fans all over the hipster world.

hailed as an IT girl of the uk scene, roisin not only looks the part, but her quirky musical style continues to surprise those who have followed her from the mid 90's moloko days.

though commercial breakthrough came in the form of a boris dlugosch remix, the lessons learned from that crossover allowed roisin and her then partner mark brydon to experiment more within the context of popular music. since going solo, roisin has come up with a sound that is not quite dance, not quite indie, not quite soul, but somehow all these little pieces form an exciting unique artist.
