WEEKEND MIX: foster the people - coming of age

foster the people - coming of age
after taking all of 2013 off to record their sophomore effort, the LA trio of foster the people finally showcase new material with this dense sounding, post summer track that is at once indie yet chilled out at the same time. i'm intrigued with their confident direction...

WONGIE POP SONG OF THE WEEK: chloe howl - no strings

chloe howl - no strings
at just 18, young chloe has already been buzzed by the right crowd (radio 1/guardian/pitchfork) and with her official first single, she looks set to continue her cred streak with this catchy (someone say "pumped up kicks" bassline?) yearning pop ditty. it's a solid start thats for sure!

WONGIE COOL SONG OF THE WEEK: mark foster, a-trak and kimbra - warrior (converse 3 artists, 1 song project)

[as far as collaborations like these go, they tend to be clusterF's of too many ideas. but it looks like this mix works pretty darn well. if you want a free download of the track, click here]

YEAR END MASHUP!: dj earworm mashup - united state of pop 2011 (world go boom)

[happy year in pop yo!]

NEW FOSTER THE PEOPLE!: foster the people - don't stop (color on the walls)

foster the people - don't stop (color on the walls)
[it's nice to know that foster the people have gotten so big that they can now get celebs like gabourey sidibe to co-star in their video and do crazy stunts AND throw in a tender cop love moment to boot! sweetness!]

WONGIE INDIE POP SONG(s) OF THE WEEK: foster the people - helena beat / pumped up kicks

nothing like a bit of los angeles summery indie pop to make your wednesday a lovely one. these boys definitely have the knack for the hook (plus they are CAH-UUUUTE!) and are gaining traction with the npr/kcrw music lovers set. if you're not already on the foster the people train, time to get on now!
