the new vampire weekend single "sunflower" is a catchy jazz scat jam featuring the internet's steve lacy on some crazy guitar picking throughout! produced by the awesome ariel rechtshaid (who also did their previous jam "harmony hall") this just gives me an inkling that the upcoming 'father of the bride' album is going to be a hodgepodge of sounds that i can't wait to get my hands on! love this!!

though i'm not sure if the grimes version is the one for the video, but either way janelle monae's new single 'pynk' definitely celebrates womyn in all their glory! directed by emma westenberg the awesome video also marks the return of hot actress tessa thompson who also co-starred in the epic prince inspired smash 'make me feel' (see below). the whole thing celebrates pussy power which is definitely cause for major happiness!

truth of the matter, there isn't enough time to showcase all the fabulous beautiful women (tho where the asian stars at?), but drake's lauren hill 'ex-factor' sampled new track does a good period trying. directed by karena evans the video must have been a logistical miracle to get all the 16 actresses, but the final result of this awesome surprise track is worth a couple of repeat viewings!

honestly this 8 minute star studded video short with over 20 major stars that have worked/collaborated/or will work with ava duvernay is something to watch in awe. showcasing a future run by women or people of color, the end result might still end in shakespearean tragedy since power can corrupt the best of us. as the song says, 'nobody wins when the family feuds' but boy do we get to watch something epic in return!

i LOVE it when p!nk dances in her videos, but i REALLY LOVE it when p!nk dances to the goldenboyz (aka nick florez & rj durell) (like in the video for try). this time roping in the wonderful channing tatum, the duo go through some fun twisted kinky couple stuff all the while dancing circles to the fun choreo. paired to one of my already fave songs of the year and you have the perfect combination. LOVE THIS!!!

so the question is does this song need a 12 mins video? to be fair i could have watched a whole mini movie with tyra banks in it, but hey this is drake's video and he wants to be surrounded by strippers in a sea of dolla bills. i definitely preferred the 1st half and maybe there's going to be a sequel as drake has announced another mini movie later this month, so drake... BRING BACK TYRA BANKS!

co-directed by kahlil joseph & beyonce, 'sorry' is easily one of the standout tracks off the 'lemonade' album and caused the biggest internet chatter about "becky with the good hair". but like much of the tracks off the album, there lies a lingering sadness that overshadows the whole collection, even in a F you anthem like this one, which is probably why people love these tracks so. oh and tennis superstar serena williams likes to bounce yo!

ewww.... boy problems are so annoying! what's NOT annoying is the continued discovery of carly rae jepsen's amazingly celebratory 80's pop 'emotion' album. working with fashion photographer petra collins, the collective of cool gals 'over it' (including actress/blogger tavi gevinson) is something that'll make you happy for the weekend. joy of joys!

continuing the tradition of releasing powerful videos to match his music, hozier gets oscar nominee saiorse ronan to star in this simple yet impactful video that highlights domestic violence (on valentines day no less). all proceeds of the song go to support 22 charities around the world that focus on this abuse. love the song and love what hozier is doing with it.
