after almost 6 years, ezra koenig and his band of merry vampire weekend-ers (sans founding member rotsam batmanglij who coincidentally worked on this song) are baaack!! kicking off with this insta positive acoustic guitar-riffed gem, the track also allows us to gear up for the upcoming 'father of the bride' album! check out the video featuring some nice cameos from blood orange's dev hynes, haim sister danielle and jonah hill taking a bite from ezra's pancake breakfast. Sure why not!

the uk based multi national superorganism posse have chosen this insta-catchy number from their self titled debut album as their new single! lead singer orono continues to compel with her deadpan vocals surrounded by a room full of uber talented multi-hypenates who are definitely older than her 17 years of age. which is probably why we love them so much!

the simplicity of the video is what is so wonderful about it all. not only does it showcase a new song, but i love the fact that sigrid has the confidence to sing it totally live while doing a walk through in a day of her life. there's a reason why she was chosen as the sound of 2018 by the bbc and this video further cements her as star in the making! love it!

it's the return of olly and his gang! the synth pop trio bring their 1st single 'sanctify' with a high concept video set in the futuristic palo santo where humans are captured to bring entertainment to  androids (can't wait to see where the rest of the story will lead to). the song itself is an uber catchy electronic soul number that we've come to love so much from these guys! welcome back!!

it's been 3 years since chvrches have put out an album and their return was made with the help of  super producer greg kurstin (adele), who is giving their synth sound an edgier spin. kicking off with the super catchy "get out", the promo video also features a possible collaboration with the national (look for the telephone number), which makes this upcoming album even more intriguing! welcome back!!!

nothing like kicking off 2018 with this quirky new 8 member band (they live in a communal building in london) fronted by the very teenager orono who's much younger than those she performs with. each member has their own function but collectively they are making some real catchy all over the place pop gems that sound super self assured and highly identifiable. it's going to be a fun 2018 for these guys!!

oh yeah! scandi pop gal sigrid gives us this insta-electro pop jam that just grabs you from the very first note onwards. throw in some bittersweet lyrics and you've got a very robyn-lite number on your hands. continually proving why she's been one of this years best new artists, press play on your pop obsession of the day!

one of the stronger new vocalists around these days, bishop briggs offers up this lush hopeful song that swoops into largeness while completely vulnerable at the same time. basically it's kind of perfect! if this is an example of the work she's putting into her debut album, i cannot wait to hear more. so good!

we've been fans of tom since the summer and have been waiting for a new material to follow up to his wonderful EP 'blessings'. though there was a single co-produced by naughty boy (meh song GREAT video), i'm glad to say that 'leave a light on' is just the kind of release worthy of this talented singer/songwriter. produced by super producer steve mac (p!nk, ed sheeran etc), tom calls this one of the most honest songs he's ever written. love it! love tom!

new zealand indie pop diva kimbra returns after a 4 year break and the result is a wonderful track that keeps on adding sonic layers, ending in a big cool fuzzy guitar jam by the end. hopefully this is an example of the kind of energy to expect from the upcoming album!

uk singer/songwriter rae morris has always been a slow burn fave with her chill attitude mixed with electro with a tinge of epic-ness thrown in. this time, rae brings us something so wonderfully catchy with an equally amazing video shot by noel paul making NYC/Brooklyn the most fun cool place to be at (i live here and i still want her version of this city!) if you're not familiar with rae, i'm gonna throw in another gem from her as yet untitled new album below. make her on your radar yo!!!

lany (aka LA-NY) have slowly released solid track after track from their self-titled debut album, and this one looks set to offer the trio some serious crossover bizness. with their john hughes for a new generation sound, i've been enjoying these guys for a good part of this year (listen to the excellent breakup track below) and will happily chalk them up as one of the best new bands of 2017!

co-written by jack antonoff, hip hop hitmaker frank dukes & andrew wyatt of miike snow, this is the kind of insta pop anthem that just begs to be a hit. lorde follows up her 'green light' smash with this jam that feels more akin to her debut sound than what she's been offering up on this album. all good!

i first discovered sydney based tigertown last year with their insanely insta-catchy anthem 'lonely cities'. with a kind of joyous musicality and singalong chorus, it was an exciting kick start for this husband/wife core / with perspective family members in tow band. now the gang offer up their latest single "warriors" and it's equally brilliant! these guys are gonna be big yo, so get in with the love program!

there's something wonderfully fierce about 20 year old norwegian singer/songwriter/pop gal sigrid. with just an EP to her name, there is already a solid 1/2 album of strong material that most newbies would kill to have under their belt. her latest single "plot twist" is all the more interesting with the mantra inducing shout-along "shots fired" as part of the chorus hook. easily one of my fave pop songs of the summer! want more? check out her glastonbury debut of her 1st single "don't kill my vibe" which is equally catchy and wonderful!
