WONGIE INDIE SOUL SONG OF THE WEEK: jack garratt - strong enough

jack garratt - strong enough
i'm just obsessed with jack garratt's blend of his celebration of soul / funk musical chords with a twist of uk modern. every jam literally is that, a hodge podge mix that weirdly meshes perfectly and turns it into something well... jack garratt. love this guy so much.

jack garratt feat little simz - far cry
holy cow this live performance of jack garratt is AMAZING!!! jack gets little simz (who did a remix of her own last month) in on the video and boy her verse is just as stunning. if you don't understand why this guy was easily my fave act of last year, this should give you an idea why. DAMN this is great!

WONGIE VIDEO OF THE WEEK: jack garratt - surprise yourself

jack garratt - surprise yourself
directed by tom clarkson, the simple concept of everyday people overcoming their anxieties by working thru them, is something quite beautiful and profound (especially with jack's excellent new single as it's soundtrack). a tear may have been shed but definitely cause it made me happy!

WONGIE INDIE SOUL SONG OF THE WEEK: jack garratt - worry

jack garratt - worry
with his debut album 'phase' just released this weekend, wongie fave of 2015, jack garratt, graces us with a brand new album track in the form of "worry". like all of his previous tracks there is ALOT going on but strip away the multi-instrumental pile up is a solid songwriter who knows how to craft near perfect tunes. oh and the video is a hoot too!

WONGIE SONG OF THE MONTH: jack garratt - weathered

jack garratt - weathered
i can't explain what happened when i first heard this song. the mix of nostalgia, hopefulness and regret all rolled into it's 4'36" runtime definitely gave me pause to walk around my block an extra time to listen to the song again. i've always felt that jack's previous releases were a bit distracting with it's sudden jerky arrangements, but in this case, he's crafted a near perfect song that i easily my favorite thing out at the moment. i am obsessed.

wanna check out jack performing this song acoustically? :
