in the past few weeks lykke li has been very gracious about giving fans album tracks and buzz singles for her upcoming new album (in 7 years!) 'so sad, so sexy'. in keeping with the theme of the title, her new video for 'hard rain' directed by the incredible anton tammi allows us an in depth look at such a tumultuous relationship. the video is also deeply gorgeous and has some fancy camerawork thrown in. definitely press play and get lost!

superorganism - everybody wants to be famous
nothing like kicking off 2018 with this quirky new 8 member band (they live in a communal building in london) fronted by the very teenager orono who's much younger than those she performs with. each member has their own function but collectively they are making some real catchy all over the place pop gems that sound super self assured and highly identifiable. it's going to be a fun 2018 for these guys!!

after putting out the incredible viral smash "gold" last year, kiiara has been taking her time to get her debut album recorded correctly. while we wait for a full length, us fans are still enjoying the jams taken off her EP 'low kii savage' with the track "feels" finally released as an official single. soulfully ethereal, this is just beautiful!

just the visual language alone that solange has for her videos (co-directed by her hubby alan ferguson) sets her up as an artist that's doing interesting things for herself. but then throw in the genre busting music from her new album 'a seat at the table' and you've got one of the coolest releases of the year! nice one!

taken from the upcoming '22, a million' album, bon iver's latest collection upon first listen sounds complex and disjointed. but strip away the seemingly random soundscapes, you can hear the same internal exploration of self that we've loved about this man from the very beginning. in fact i'd say that these songs are actually quite lush, but in that avant kind of way. here are 3 beautiful new tracks, trust me, it's worth the listen!

#12 in our best of 2015 list it's right to say that we have LIVED this song thoroughly by now! but watching troye with his friends in this new video just brings back all the joy that we experienced upon hearing this song for the first time. we heart troye and we definitely heart this song from his wonderful 'blue neighbourhood' album!

forget about the mesmerizing beauty of the albanian british dua lipa (the girl made dosh as a model yo!) and just check out the captivating releases of this new artist that spans pop, indie with a sprinkle of electronic fabulousness that most debut artists have confidence fronting. it's kind of breathtaking really to witness the potential of dua before she gets super massive. you have been warned.

for those of you who follow my music blog, you know i have a soft spot for little mix. ever since the x factor uk days to now, these four lovelies have found a great quirky sound that usually tries a few genres within the context of their songs. as a build up promo single for their new album 'get weird' the gals once again prove that they do pop beyond the rules out there. yeah, i kind of love them!

i gotta say, when you don't see justin bieber on your youtube screen, you realize that you're kind of ok with the new material that he's putting out. probably getting the most cred in his career with his jack u smash, that dance influence has filtered through to his latest single which has a chill dance pop edge that is pretty darn catchy. can't believe i'm saying this, but it's not bad...

i can't explain what happened when i first heard this song. the mix of nostalgia, hopefulness and regret all rolled into it's 4'36" runtime definitely gave me pause to walk around my block an extra time to listen to the song again. i've always felt that jack's previous releases were a bit distracting with it's sudden jerky arrangements, but in this case, he's crafted a near perfect song that i easily my favorite thing out at the moment. i am obsessed.

we've been fans of swedish singer loreen ever since her eurovision win back in 2012. though she still remains a star back in the EU zones, intl success seems to have eluded her. to be honest, it doesn't matter since the woman continues to put out interesting signature releases that places loreen in her own category. with a new single just out, the label competes with itself by putting out this 'revisited' version by salvatore ganacci and it's pretty damn hot! definitely on repeat!

btw, there is nothing wrong with the original single. it's a wonderful slice of smart pop, which is what we love from our loreen. check it out below:

another day another tidal.com world exclusive that forces fans to check out the new audio/video platform. this time riri premieres her latest track creating even more buzz for her surprising album of non-pop music. with the influence of kanye everywhere on this song, it is all good until it gets kind of repetitive. shame.

easily one of the best pop ballads i've heard in awhile, this ethereal gem gives cheryl some cred especially since previous releases have been kind of 'meh'.

the kpop queens return with yet another song which sounds like 1000 things mashed into 4 mins. not my fave track of theirs, but it's interesting to hear at least once.

WEEKEND CATCH UP: la roux - let me down gently / uptight downtown

la roux - let me down gently
after taking a 5 year break (while splitting up with her writing partner ben langmaid AND losing her voice), elly jackson (aka la roux) is finally back with an album that's made wholly from her choices. so far the buzz track is quite a reboot from the synth pop that made her into a worldwide superstar. the electronics are still there, just less front and center. we shall see if this works in the long run... so far i like it.

whoa! with the audio premiere buzzing the internet just two days ago, clean bandit continue their hot streak with this beautiful video shot entirely in cuba AND a brand new lusher mix of their new single that is so much better than the original! will this follow up to clean bandit's MASSIVE smash 'rather be' do just as well? i think so! btw, all you fans in the states (including me) they've also announced two US dates (NY and LA) in june, which go on sale this friday!
