besides the fact that 'LOVE' has been on serious repeat since kendrick's album 'DAMN' came out back in april, it's also managed to stand the test of time and continues to be a favorite whenever i wanna get into a slow jam. throw in a hot video by dave meyers (AND a tease to the upcoming black panther soundtrack) and we got ourselves a repeat play in the visual department! LOVE this song!!!!

i have to be honest, i totally misunderstood the intention of 'the weekend' when i first heard the song. rather than a woe is me being a side-piece jam, it's actually an... 'ok fine, i get him on the weekends, but i get the rest of the week to myself' anthem instead. to be honest, a fine lady like sza should have no problems getting a guy 100% of the time, but it probably wouldn't generate a number as good as this one. oh and the sparse video is directed by solange!

this is what we call a slow burn. it's taken me a looong while to appreciate the jam that janet has produced for her return. perhaps it's the smart visuals thanks to director dave meyers or it's the newly added j.cole rap that has really given the track some depth. either way, janet is back and it's made me a happy camper!

after a 7 year break, comes the much anticipated, surprisingly low key, return of janet jackson. working with jimmy jam and terry lewis, hopefully this is a subtle foray back into 'ms jackson if your nasty' land, cause this track leaves me definitely wanting much more.
