it's that time of the year again when dj earworm gathers together the 25 biggest pop hits of the year and somehow manages to mash it up into something cohesive. nice to know that i still listen to enough pop radio to know all the songs on this list (whew... not a total out of touch oldie!)

gotta give it up to director andy hines for directing this powerful short film with an all star cast led by child actor coy stewart. of course true props have to go to rapper logic for even crafting this touching song about suicide prevention with alessia cara & khalid on additional verses. the end result is a collective effort to get the message across to at risk youth. it's kind of amazing.

easily one of my fave songs of 2015 FINALLY gets an official release and still has the same effect on me a year later. this was the song that told me that alessia meant business with lyrics that spoke beyond her years and brought chills with the line 'never were there truer words in all my days i've ever heard when she told me little girl the answer is love'. chills! if this already wasn't a fave song of yours before, hopefully it will be now!

two of my fave acts of 2015 join together to re-record troye sivan's single 'wild' and it's lush!!! after spending much of the past year covering each others songs on various shows, the duo got together to rework this track with a new verse by alessia and adding some sweet harmonies into the mix. just when you thought it couldn't get more loverly, this duet defo does the job! love this!!

after a long standing lovefest covering each others songs, troye sivan has gotten alessia cara to offer up a new verse for his album favorite 'wild' which officially comes out this weekend as a "remix". the song is still a gem and now with alessia on harmony, it's just even more lush!

like troye sivan, alessia's song was featured on our best of 2015 list (#10!!) and we have since given very special attention to this wonderfully joyous and catchy number many times over. if you haven't found the genius that is singer/songwriter and lovely youngin' alessia yet, you really should get to know her debut album 'know it all' which is filled with gems like this one. LOVE HER!!

19 year old singer/songwriter alessia cara went front and center with her wallflower anthem 'here' during the summer and since then EVERY audio release has showcased her amazing lyrics and cool musicality to make her easily one of my fave new acts of 2015. first discovered on youtube, alessia's smooth vocals is at once soulful, folky and pop in one fell modern swoop, it's the voice of someone who will only do massive things in the coming years. oh and the debut album is pretty brilliant too!

discovered via her youtube channel, toronto based singer/songwriter alessia is getting some serious buzz with her wallflower anthem "here" where she is seemingly vocal freestyling over the classic isaac hayes 'ike's rap II'. signed just a year ago to def jam, this is a very auspicious start for the young talent. radar alert!
