took them long enough to make an official video for shawn mendes pop smash. part of the deluxe edition of his album 'illuminate', this song just stands the test of time as it still brings a wonderful amount of joy after two months of release. one of my contenders of the song of summer 2017 if you ask me!
troye sivan feat alessia cara - wild
two of my fave acts of 2015 join together to re-record troye sivan's single 'wild' and it's lush!!! after spending much of the past year covering each others songs on various shows, the duo got together to rework this track with a new verse by alessia and adding some sweet harmonies into the mix. just when you thought it couldn't get more loverly, this duet defo does the job! love this!!

alessia cara - know it all
19 year old singer/songwriter alessia cara went front and center with her wallflower anthem 'here' during the summer and since then EVERY audio release has showcased her amazing lyrics and cool musicality to make her easily one of my fave new acts of 2015. first discovered on youtube, alessia's smooth vocals is at once soulful, folky and pop in one fell modern swoop, it's the voice of someone who will only do massive things in the coming years. oh and the debut album is pretty brilliant too!

nothing like watching drake do some serious cha cha dad dancing! it's been on serious repeat for the past few weeks and all i do is sing "ever since i left the city youuuuuuu" over and over again. i'm hooked and so should you!
alessia cara - here
discovered via her youtube channel, toronto based singer/songwriter alessia is getting some serious buzz with her wallflower anthem "here" where she is seemingly vocal freestyling over the classic isaac hayes 'ike's rap II'. signed just a year ago to def jam, this is a very auspicious start for the young talent. radar alert!
sonreal - preach
shot during his north american tour, vancouver native aaron hoffman (aka sonreal) and director dane collison came up with this highly visual, yet totally simple video that was nominated as video of the year at this years juno awards (they lost to keisza). finally getting a US release, sonreal has the makings of a crossover hit especially with normcore raps like this one. i'm a new fan!

with the album release of 'shrines. another eternity' just around the corner, purity ring offer this album track for the fans. though the electro pop sound is still front and center, there does seem to be a larger production going on in the background (a more mature sound perhaps?) i'm excited!!!!

it's been two years since purity ring have put out new material and the wait has been totally worth it cause this dreamy indie pop gem is all sorts of awesome! with little info about the upcoming new album, this is a good teaser for all the fans.

after scoring a UK #1 with her retro throwback pop house smash 'hideaway', the canadian pop gal returns with another fun 90's jam with enough hooks to keep you bopping for the rest of the summer. kind of awesome!

canadian electro house diva is in the house (well actually... street)! with her highly catchy single which references all the awesome 90's house tropes, kiesza actually broke her rib shooting this video and well... it still looks like a hoot to shoot. your jam of the week!
magic! - rude
though the quartet hail from canada, their debut single ended up being a smash pop hit in australia and new zealand first (the power of the internet certainly has changed marketing plans of worldwide record labels). now the rest of the world is playing catch up and you'll be sick of this future smash song by the end of the year. you're welcome!
serena ryder - what i wouldn't do
nominated for 5 juno awards this year, this canadian singer/songwriter is definitely someone you should keep an eye out for (if you haven't already). full of joyous stomp, this is the perfect single to acquaint yourself to this powerhouse of an artist.

cutie canadian rapper classified gets olly murs to provide the new vocals for his big hometown hit 'inner ninja'. it's hella catchy and will definitely get some play when the song gets released internationally. nice one this!

i have been adoring this wonderfully loopy track for quite some time on my spotify car mix and am so happy that this gem finally gets a video that i can gift to you guys. hailing from canada, i tipped this four piece back in 2010 and it's so nice to re-discover them with this song. press play, feel great, repeat til you're singing along in no time!
