solange - lovers in the parking lot
always a good day when there is something new from solange to experience! check out solange as she does some 'interesting' choreography for your enjoyment! try that beyonce!
happy sunday! lets giggle a bit with a threesome from the lonely island boys!
the lonely island - spring break anthem
trashed up hotel room, wet t-shirts and gay marriage, probably the best spring break song ever! oh and james franco, zach galifiankis and ed norton support gay marriage too!
the lonely island - diaper money
welcome to more silly
the lonely island feat solange - semicolon
bringing in solange into the mix! genius!
solange - bad girls (live @ black cab sessions)
the hipper of the knowles sisters gets into the black cab and gives us a stripped down version of her very prince-like number 'bad girls'. i love these sessions and am so happy to see our gal solange fitting in very comfortably within it's four door confines (can you imagine bey here?)
Edging closer to the top 20, this batch consists of some of my favorite bands of last year (The Maccabees, Dirty Projectors, Everything Everything and Alt J are all f-ing brilliant!) that offered up a mix of tracks that both appealed to my quiet internal and boppy external, all the while teaching me some quirky musicality no one else had.
While the rest of the bunch definitely showcases the fact that electronic music and hipster soul have ALOT in common these days (Solange, Santigold and Azealia Banks being the best examples of what I'm talking about). Of course fans of dance music will not be surprised that the epic Swedish House Mafia track made the list, as did the uber catchy Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (I mean the vocal hook is "feet don't fail me now!"). Finally 2012 discovery Haim make their way into the top 30 with their happy go lucky sunny pop that feels both retro and fresh at the same time. Just love these gals!!!
solange - losing you
though solange continues to bubble under the mainstream radar, she's subtle-y created an interesting catalog of future soul tracks that convey her innate quirkiness mixed with a celebration of old skool soul. i dig, so should you.
beyonce feat j cole - party
[B brings brings some hipster glamour to the trailer park set! not my fave song off the '4' collection, but i do like the inclusion of cutie pie j cole into the mix. oh and check out the cameos by sister solange and buddy kelly rowland!]
solange - stillness is the move (dirty projectors cover)
[this cover came out last year, but thanks to a wonderful piece on new york magazine about solange's upcoming r&b meets indie transformation, i finally got a chance to hear this AMAZING version. i always thought the dirty projectors wrote killer soul songs, guess i wasn't the only one thinking it. brilliant!]
check out the live performance WITH the dirty projectors in which solange comes out a tad too early... oops!
solange - i decided pt 2 (freemason radio mix) [link 2] [solange knowles (aka beyonce's baby sister) has always had the fortune to run to the beat of her drum. taking baby steps as an actress and releasing under the radar music, it looks like solange is finally ready for her closeup. the 1st single off her album sol-angel and the hadley st. dreams is not only produced by the neptunes, but is a surprising doo-wop soul tune with minimal background music. i wasn't a big fan of the initial mix, which is why i'm so happy that the freemasons brought the kind of chords that the song really needs. now, i love this tune! can't wait to hear what else solange has in store for us!]
