LOVE THIS!: frank ocean - moon river

frank ocean - moon river
out of nowhere frank ocean released this beautiful cover version of 'moon river' to the world. turns out we needed this dreamy moment in our lives after all.

VIDEO PREMIERE: james blake - my willing heart

james blake - my willing heart
shot just days before she gave birth to her newborn daughter, natalie portman looks amazing as she celebrates the beauty of pregnancy in the anna rose holmer (the fits) directed video for james blake. it's just hypnotic really.

NEW FRANK OCEAN!: frank ocean - nikes

frank ocean - nikes
we offered up frank ocean's visual album 'endless' last week and then in less than 24 hours, the singer/songwriter released another album 'blonde' with the accompanying 'nikes' video as the official first release. dreamy and loose, the whole album is a fascinating creative experiment that deserves multiple listens. either way, it's a massive welcome back that we will be breaking down in the weeks to come!

FIRST LISTEN: frank ocean - endless (album preview)

frank ocean - endless (album preview)
though everyone was waiting last week for it to happen, frank ocean took his time to quietly release his new collection of songs under the title of 'endless'. featuring a slew of guests from radiohead's jonny greenwood to james blake, frank streamed the new tracks on his website via an installation piece where the singer/songwriter went ahead and built himself a sculpture made of boxes. does any of this make sense? who cares! we got new frank ocean stuff!!!

WONGIE COVER OF THE WEEK: major lazer feat MØ - lost (frank ocean cover)

major lazer feat MØ - lost (frank ocean cover)
covering frank ocean's now classic track 'lost' from his 'channel orange' album, major lazer are gearing up for another (!!) new album called 'music is the weapon' due for release later this year. of course they still have a few singles left from their current album, so it'll just be a major lazer cluster F in the coming months. not complaining!

WONGIE COVER OF THE WEEK: frank ocean - at your best (you are loved) (aaliyah birthday tribute)

frank ocean - at your best (you are loved)
aaliyah would have been 36 this weekend, so frank ocean went and did a beautiful cover of the isley brothers classic that the young singer also covered back in 1994 for her debut album 'age ain't nothing but a number'. listening to this just makes me think of the lost possibilities of the young songstress. sigh...

AWESOME DEMO: frank ocean - wise man (django unchained unused song)

frank ocean - wise man (django unchained unused song)
i find it hard to believe that quentin tarantino couldn't find a place to put this beauty within his almost 3 hour opus. what a shame cause frank ocean's song is GORGEOUS! put it out on your deluxe re-issue and release it as a single. that'll show him!
