jake bugg - a song about love
though i can honestly say i haven't been foaming about most of the singles released from jake's new album, THIS new ballad is something to take notice of. there's something really timeless about this 70's retro perfect rock ballad that i feel will be a live favorite for years to come. yaaay!

jake bugg - broken
wow... this is just wonderful. what starts off as a wistful guitar piece grows into a choir filled cry that is just brilliant (yet still keeping the retro 50's country essence of days past thanks to mega producer rick rubin, i'm sure). i just love LOVE love this song!
jake bugg - seen it all
our previous indie song of the week, gets a proper video, this time starring the awesome michael socha of being human UK. funnily enough, michael brings a supernatural element to his performance and well... just watch the video!
jake bugg - seen it all
yeah, kind of awesome in it's simplicity and honesty, 18 year old jake bugg recounts life from his rough upbringing, all the while kicking seasoned songwriters to the curb. easily one of the best debuts of 2012 continues to make an impact into 2013!
As we get closer to the Top 10, one wonders how pop icons like Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran all got shafted into the Top 20 instead! Of course they all offered some serious tracks for the year (Riri with her club anthems, Taylor supplying some of the best pop ballads - and the heartbreaking Ronan, Ellie bringing her form of future pop and Ed just writing endless hit after hit) but somehow it still wasn't enough to break the 10.
As for the rest of the Top 20, they offer up a wonderful 'best of' 2012: Jake Bugg (the best old skool rockabilly young singer of the year! his energy is amazing!), Conor Maynard (the best pop boy vocalist out at the moment), Bastille (the best indie pop dude of last year and maybe this one!), Icona Pop (the best kick you in the neck bratty bitch song of the last year!), 2ne1 (the best kpop song of last year - it's 5 songs in one and all of them are catchy!) and Grimes (the best hipster girl pop song of the year - literally EVERYONE i know sings along to this song when they hear it).
jake bugg - lightning bolt
[even though the kid is only 18 and possesses the songwriting skills of an old country soul, you can really hear the earnest influences of jake's musical idols with no sense of irony in sight (teenagers are so serious these days!) but that is probably the reason why i've grown to appreciate and admire jake with such speed. i'm a fan, and so should you be! check out some other examples of this uber talented kid below!]
