VIDEO OF THE WEEK: drake - nice for what

drake - nice for what
truth of the matter, there isn't enough time to showcase all the fabulous beautiful women (tho where the asian stars at?), but drake's lauren hill 'ex-factor' sampled new track does a good period trying. directed by karena evans the video must have been a logistical miracle to get all the 16 actresses, but the final result of this awesome surprise track is worth a couple of repeat viewings!

ALBUM STREAM: alessia cara - know it all

alessia cara - know it all
19 year old singer/songwriter alessia cara went front and center with her wallflower anthem 'here' during the summer and since then EVERY audio release has showcased her amazing lyrics and cool musicality to make her easily one of my fave new acts of 2015. first discovered on youtube, alessia's smooth vocals is at once soulful, folky and pop in one fell modern swoop, it's the voice of someone who will only do massive things in the coming years. oh and the debut album is pretty brilliant too!

WONGIE DISCOVERY: alessia cara - here

alessia cara - here
discovered via her youtube channel, toronto based singer/songwriter alessia is getting some serious buzz with her wallflower anthem "here" where she is seemingly vocal freestyling over the classic isaac hayes 'ike's rap II'. signed just a year ago to def jam, this is a very auspicious start for the young talent. radar alert!

INDIE AUDIO BUZZ: alvvays - archie, marry me

alvvays - archie, marry me
nothing like a fuzzy guitar backdrop to a retro pop song about marriage! this toronto five piece have crafted the perfect yearn anthem for your summer, marry her already archie!!!

INDIE POP GAL: allie x - prime / catch

allie x - prime
channeling some serious marina and the diamonds  with her latest release (but with some seriously beautiful arty visuals supporting her), torontonian pop songwriter allie x (she's playing the anonymous real name card) is getting serious blog loving these days. it helps that both her current singles are collaborations with cirkut and billboard (they are regular contributors to the dr luke hitmaking factory) and luckily, they speak for themselves. new pop wunderkind for 2014... we shall see!

wanna hear more? check out the pop electro ballad 'catch' which had katy perry buzzing on twitter a few weeks back:
