WONGIE SONG OF THE WEEK: jacob banks - slow up

jacob banks - slow up
taken from jacob's beautiful debut album 'village', this new single is accompanied by a poignant video (co-directed by jacob himself with mo swaleh) that is both touching and visual in it's simplicty. the rest of the album offers up even more musical gems, so remember to check it out after you've gotten some feels watching this video! love it!

WONGIE FUTURE SOUL SONG OF THE WEEK: seinabo sey - i owe you nothing / feat jacob banks - remember

seinabo sey - i owe you nothing
oh what wonderful imagery from director sheila johansson to showcase swedish singer seinabo sey's awesome return single 'i owe you nothing'. building slowly til a full on choir kicks in by the end, seinabo is playing with the sound of soul by giving it a bare bones alt twist that is distinctly all hers. i've been a fan since her last album and i gotta say, this kicks it up a major notch! turn it up!!!

want more? as part of the double a single, check out the gorgeously sparse 'remember' duet featuring the amazing jacob banks below:

WONGIE BALLAD OF THE WEEK: jacob banks - unknown (to you)

jacob banks - unknown (to you)
my fave baritone of the moment keeps on putting out beautifully emotional tracks (which are better experienced live if you ever get the chance) leading up to his debut album coming out next spring. 'unknown' is in fact a track that was released two years ago via his EP 'the paradox', but over the years of performing the song, jacob has found a new connection with it's sentiments and wanted to share it with his fans. the end result is just gorgeous. LOVE THIS GUY!

WEEKEND CATCH UP: jacob banks - move with you

jacob banks - move with you
listening to this happy retro jam makes you wanna clap your hands and dance on table tops! with this infectious single setting up his upcoming debut album, UK soul act jacob banks is on my radar now. hot damn is this song catchy!

LAST BATCH MIX: chase & status feat jacob banks - alive

chase & status feat jacob banks - alive
how fascinating that chase and status are looking into the dark side of society for some native americans in their latest video. it's a weird connection, but a solid thought provoking video.
