WONGIE DANCE SONG OF THE WEEK: ghetto vanessa - yuh live nice

ghetto vanessa - yuh live nice
nothing like bopping your body to the jerky post-carribbean / dancehall / bass sounds of a german teenager based out of the dominican republic. background details aside, this is just a great jam that needs to be blasted out loud for the summer. it's a hoot and my choice for party anthem of the week!

riton feat kah-lo, mr eazi & davido - money
bringing together some of the biggest acts in africa at the moment (kah-lo was just nominated for a grammy yo!) uk dj/producer riton has just put out an insta-catchy dance number with a simple bass line over the songs' infectious melody & lyrics. this is gonna be huge, so turn it up and let this be your weekend jam!!!

NEW MIX: rudimental feat becky hill - powerless

rudimental feat becky hill - powerless
it's the album that just keeps on giving! officially single number 6 from their debut 'home', this time the rudimental boys rope in last years drum n bass pop hit 'afterglow' vocalist becky hill (and currently the bands touring partner) to their already impressive collaborations on the album. will there be a single #7?

HIP HOP CATCH UP: angel haze - initiation

angel haze - initiation
though this doesn't make the cut off her upcoming debut album dirty gold (release date tbd - like all rap albums these days), it's still a dark melancholy electronic bass number that's pretty darn cool. if this is the direction the rapper is heading then i can't wait to hear proper singles coming off this album!

WONGIE REMIX OF THE WEEK: macklemore & ryan lewis vs major lazer feat swappi and 1st klase - can't hold us (remix)

macklemore & ryan lewis vs major lazer feat swappi and 1st klase - can't hold us (remix)

VIRAL SENSATION: hadouken! - levitate

hadouken! - levitate
you have to give it up to indie dance band hadouken for being smart enough to utilize social media and offering a totally hypnotic compilation video of amazing feats using their song as the soundtrack. since they are self releasing, the song has been heard at least 30 million times (thanks to this 'people are awesome' youtube campaign) and has rocketed to the top 10 of the itunes dance music chart. lets see if they can sustain this buzz when their album 'every weekend' comes out next month, but for now, people are awesome don't you think?
