metroplane is actually the side project between dj/producers alex metric and aeroplane. after having club success with the insanely catchy 'bahp', they've now gone and added vocals by bree runway and is paving the way for a proper crossover dance pop success story. it definitely works cause i've been listening to this (loudly mind you) on repeat since discovering it a few days back. back in the 90's dj / producer shinichi osawa broke international ground by creating his acid jazz/neo soul side project mondo grosso. featuring a rotating group of vocalists that not only sang in their original japanese language, but the band was also part of the world music scene where listeners didn't let the language barrier stop their appreciation of mondo grosso's amazing music. fast forward 14 years later and osawa has brought back the group, this time expanding the dance sounds to include house, electronica and other genres. once again working with various singers, check out two tracks filtered through the genius that is shinichi osawa. welcome back mondo grosso!!

a few months back, we came across the highly celebratory house track 'crank it' featuring some kick ass latin grooves and a hypnotic vocal hook. fast forward to the fall and the original version is now packed with actual lyrics and hooks galore. it's definitely made it cheesier but somehow i can't stop silly dancing to this version. sometimes you just want to have fun... now crank it!

in one fell swoop drake released two new singles hyping up his upcoming album 'views from the 6' coming out later this month. the one i'm feeling is the dancehall tinged track that samples kyla's "do you mind" which i hope will generate another awesome drake dad dancing video. following that single's release, drake offered up another track featuring a pairing simply called the throne (aka kanye & jay z). just enough serious hype for all his fans. i'm SUPER excited to hear more of this album now!
