WONGIE FOLK POP SONG OF THE WEEK: hudson taylor - world without you

hudson taylor - world without you
irish brothers harry & alfie hudson-taylor are set to finally release their debut album (they've been on the buzzlines for a good 2 years now) 'singing for stranger' next month. their latest single is easily their most radio friendly singalong number and hopefully will bring these troubadours the success they deserve. loving the heartfelt storytelling by video directors filmawi & esreal too!

VIDEO PREMIERE: passenger - 27

passenger - 27
what a fun breakdown of this talented singer songwriters current life (and a catchy one at that). taken off mike rosenberg's (aka passenger) wonderful album 'whispers' this is definitely one of my fave tracks off that album!

FOLK TUESDAYS: jeremy messersmith - ghost

jeremy messersmith - ghost
after being loved in the minneapolis music scene for many years, singer songwriter jeremy messersmith is gearing up for bigger exposure now that he's signed with the influential glassnote records (home of mumford & sons and phoenix). his latest single is a sweet folk pop number that's already garnered him a 'one to watch' title from a few publications (notably time magazine). time to get acquainted with this gentle talent.

FOLK TUESDAYS: luke sital-singh - greatest lovers / fail for you

luke sital-singh - greatest lovers
with 3 wonderful EP's in, singer songwriter luke sital-singh has released his most commercial sweeping single to date! though i've been listening to his gentle catchy songs on my spotify mix for the past year, i JUST realized that this would be my first posting about the talented UK lad and it's almost like i wanted to keep him as my own little secret. well secret no more... go and spread the love of this wonderful voice cause he deserves all your attention!

wanna hear the song that started it all off for me? check out the gorgeous "fail for you" below!:

WONGIE FOLK POP SONG OF THE WEEK: serena ryder - what i wouldn't do

serena ryder - what i wouldn't do
nominated for 5 juno awards this year, this canadian singer/songwriter is definitely someone you should keep an eye out for (if you haven't already). full of joyous stomp, this is the perfect single to acquaint yourself to this powerhouse of an artist.

WONGIE FOLK POP SONG OF THE WEEK: one direction - story of my life

one direction - story of my life
what a wonderfully great folk inspired pop number from 1d! co-written by ed drewett, jamie scott AND 1D themselves, this is probably their most mature release and it's just a solid fall ballad for the cooling climes. kind of love this!

GUY MIX: gary barlow - let me go

gary barlow - let me go
oh the cheese! i wouldn't give this song any recognition in the past, but since barlow has been on x factor uk (3 years running), he's definitely turned into one of my fave music personalities. the song is still dreck, but he looks so happy (and hot!) playing in our nyc streets, so i'll let it pass.

WONGIE KPOP SONG OF THE WEEK: roy kim - love love love

roy kim - love love love
winner of the super star k4 competition, roy is a rarity on the kpop scene, he's an actual singer/songwriter (gasp!!) obviously influenced by the folk pop sound by western acts like ed sheeran, jason mraz and even phillip phillips, this is a simple guitar pop number that has not only charmed korea, but maybe even beyond.

gavin degraw - the best i ever had

WONGIE FOLK SONG OF THE WEEK: kodaline - love like this

kodaline - love like this
well this is a bit of a departure from kodaline's previous rock ballad sound. instead the dublin based quartet seems to have tapped into the soul of their irish roots and come up with a rousing singalong jamboree that'll play perfect live. they're 3 for 3 in my book and only makes me more excited about their debut album in june!

CATCH UP SATURDAYS: passenger - let her go

passenger - let her go
with over 18 million hits since the video premiered last year, passenger (aka mike rosenberg) has already amassed 9 #1's all over the world, and is slowly gaining major traction in the US and UK among his dedicated online fanbase (mike still busks flash gigs via social media). i've been slow on this song, but i'm now a definite fan!

WONGIE FOLK POP SONG OF THE WEEK: lewis watson - into the wild

lewis watson - into the wild
at just 20 years old, youtube sensation lewis watson offers up his beautifully breezy lead single from his latest major label EP 'the wild'. after being discovered online, lewis has been getting serious buzz opening for acts like lianne la havas and birdy (another youtube singer turned crossover act), plus he's prepping his debut album which features collaborations with songwriting producers who've worked with jake bugg, florence and the machine and arctic monkeys. with the success of male singer/songwriters ed sheeran and ben howard the past year, it's looking like lewis will have a good shot at similar successes. i'm betting yes!
