NEW ONE DIRECTION!: one direction - perfect

one direction - perfect
as the countdown to the end of 1D continues, the four piece are slowly putting out soft rock pop anthems that will probably go down in time as timeless singalongs you'll hear on the radio (you scoff now, but this is how i feel). co-written by louis and harry, the video seems like a thrown together lo-fi shoot but is in fact done by big time director sophie muller (really soph? this is throwaway even for you). not the most exciting release, but it still gets me wistful for 1DDay...

NEW ONE DIRECTION: one direction - drag me down

one direction - drag me down
the curious thing about the new one direction single isn't the fact that it's post zayn, or the fact that it pretty much was released out of the blue. the real curious thing is that there is NO way in heck that these boys would pass the first round of tests to even get close to a space program. not dissing them, just the fact that 90% of any of us won't be able to either. just saying...

WONGIE POP BALLAD OF THE WEEK: one direction - night changes

one direction - night changes
written by all the boys (along with jamie scott, julian bunetta and john ryan), this surprisingly gentle ballad is so not what you'd expect from 1D! which is probably why i kind of love it so!

VIDEO PREMIERE: one direction - steal my girl

one direction - steal my girl
it's kind of amazing that the biggest boy band in the world is making pop songs that dads will probably go for these days. co-written by liam and louis, this is the official first single kicking off the upcoming 'four' album and it's perfectly fine!

CATCH UP MIX: bastille - oblivion

bastille - oblivion
game of thrones actress sophie turner takes on center stage at a demolition derby for the new video by bastille. though not an immediate highlight from the album 'bad blood', this turns into a moving song especially accompanied with these visuals. nice one.

POP MIX: the vamps feat demi lovato - somebody to you

the vamps feat demi lovato - somebody to you
rowdy singalong with stadium handclaps galore, if this doesn't help the vamps break the US, i don't know what will!

VIDEO PREMIERE!: one direction - you & i

one direction - you & i
the slow move into pop balladeers continues with the latest single by one direction! somewhere a tween girl (or boy) has popped a tear listing to this song. bless!

NEW FRIDAYS: rixton - me and my broken heart

rixton - me and my broken heart
uk boyband rixton are coaxing the screams of teen gals all over the world now that they've signed with super manager scooter braun (ariana grande, justin bieber). it also helps that they have a highly catchy (yet very maroon 5 sounding) single geared for perfect world domination. you have been warned...

WEEKEND MIX: the vamps - last night

the vamps - last night
after claiming two top 5 hits in the UK, the vamps will continue their streak with this singalong pop jam that you'll be humming along to for months to come. on the verge of releasing in the US, there seems to be a wealth of material to choose from to break this country.

POP BOYS: the vamps - wild heart

the vamps - wild heart
welcome to your new boyband obsession! though signed to a major label in 2012, the vamp boys (aka bradley (lead vocals), james (guitar), connor (bass) and tristan (drums)) grew their fanbase through youtube covers and touring with mcfly throughout the uk. it also helps that the boys are highly cute and write great earthy guitar pop like this insta-hit. looks like we'll be hearing alot from this four piece in the coming months, you have been warned ...

want more? check out their 1st single that went to #2 on the UK charts a few months back:

the vamps - can we dance

LAST BATCH MIX: union j - loving you is easy

union j - loving you is easy
hm... the boys of union j better have a rethink about their image cause they are giving so much face to the camera that they are basically a parody of a boy band at this point (i mean shooting in rain/water? what year is this?). i actually like these boys so hopefully they will step up and create some realism to what they're putting out, cause i'm not sure it's working.

XMAS MIX 2013: boyzone - the hour before christmas

boyzone - the hour before christmas
so um... downer christmas thanks to the 20th anniversary reunion of this boyband.. cue the sound of no one caring (though ronan keating sure has aged well).

POP MIX: mcfly - love is on the radio

mcfly - love is on the radio
the 10 year old boy band have morphed into an adult band with tinges of irish country strong thrown in. they look great though!

POP MIX: one direction - the story of my life

one direction - the story of my life
it is by far, the best song that the 1d boys have ever put out and hopefully a nice segway into better songs for the future.

WONGIE FOLK POP SONG OF THE WEEK: one direction - story of my life

one direction - story of my life
what a wonderfully great folk inspired pop number from 1d! co-written by ed drewett, jamie scott AND 1D themselves, this is probably their most mature release and it's just a solid fall ballad for the cooling climes. kind of love this!

POP BOYS: the wanted - show me love (america)

the wanted - show me love (america)
this is actually a very solid pop ballad that deserves to be heard beyond the wanted's usual fanbase. i think the big confusion is that their past few singles have been all over the place (especially since they messed up by being an edm associated boy band for the past 2 years). like i said, this is a strong song so give these guys a chance will ya?

POP BOYS!: union j - beautiful life

union j - beautiful life
nothing wrong with going a bit inspirational for your 2nd single. though i'm always distracted at how these boys still give the best face when it comes to camera hogging.

VIDEO PREMIERE: lawson - juliet

lawson - juliet
nice new pop number by the ever so cute lawson boys!

LIVE PERFORMANCE: one direction - best song ever (live @ america's got talent)

one direction - best song ever (live @ america's got talent)
so um... after watching their 3D movie... i might be a full fledged directioner at this point. ugh!!!

VIDEO PREMIERE!: the wanted - we own the night

the wanted - we own the night
FINALLY dropping their edm pop sound, the wanted try a more organic flags waving in the air stadium sound. it's pure poppery mind you, but definitely more interesting than the repetitive dance tracks they've been putting out the past few singles. with it's pub anthem singalong mentality, i can't help but have a happy smile when i watch this. yaaay!
