RED NOSE DAY 2013: one direction - one way or another (teenage kicks)
one direction - one way or another (teenage kicks)
you gotta give it up to the red nose day / comic relief charity for getting one direction on board as this years single artist (with a charming cheeky video to boot!). with the big red nose day event going on march 15th in the UK, the charity sent the boys over to africa to see the effects of donating to this charity (going on 25 years!)... and boy was it a wake up call for them

TV SPECIAL: BBC Children In Need performances (Cheryl Cole, Take That, JLS, Westlife, Alexandria Burke, Pixie Lott, Kylie Minogue, The Saturdays, Susan Boyle)
every year, the BBC organizes the Children in Need telethon featuring performances by all the pop favorites of the moment in the name of charity. donating almost 40 million pounds last year to childrens charities throughout the UK, the show pulled out all stops to try to top that number this year. we've collected most of the musical performances below, but check out the full schedule of the days events here.
cheryl cole - promise this
[SO much better than the X-Factor performance, plus her voice is on the ball. nice one Cheryl!]
take that - the flood / never forget
[oh my gosh, they did never forget together for the 1st time! OMG! OMG!]
JLS - love you more (children in need official single)
[this is definitely a contender of pop ballad of the year! throw in the fact that JLS have turned themselves into one of the biggest boy bands in the UK in just 2 short years really makes me dig them more and more.]
westlife - safe
[oh this song is so cheesy but i can't help but loving it!]
alexandra burke - start without you
[i actually really like this song, but i can't help feeling that this is the kind of 'caribbean' infused music that middle aged ladies boogie to feel down wit the 'ethnic'. personal issues, ignore me and watch alexandra entertain as always!]
pixie lott - turn it up
[not my favorite song of hers, but it's for charity!]
kylie minogue - better than today
[yeah... still a meh song]
the saturdays - higher
[bless... if there is one place that the saturdays are more mismatched as performers its probably during half time of a soccer game. oh well... its all for charity]
susan boyle - perfect day
[and what better way to end this random pop collection with good ol susan boyle. as usual her voice is impeccable. go forth and donate will ya?]
cheryl cole - promise this

LIVE WONGIE: cheryl cole - parachute (live @ sport relief)
cheryl cole - parachute (live @ sport relief)
[cheryl went on sport relief yesterday to perform her latest single amid a high profile divorce. definitely coming off happy and gracious, hopefully her appearance helped the charity event raise a decent portion of the final 23 million pound tally. for those who don't know about sport relief, it is a UK charity that incorporates famous faces from sports and entertainment through fun cool fund raising events throughout the year, culminating in yesterdays big telethon.]
rufus hound (cheryl cole 'fight for this love' dance)
[the champion of this years "lets dance for sport relief" performs his winning dance number (look who shows up)! and if you are kind of going wtf, rufus hound is a pretty popular comedian in the UK and was one of the contestants in the charity driven dance competition.]

CHARITY SINGLE: shane macgowan and friends - i put a spell on you (for haiti)
shane macgowan and friends - i put a spell on you (for haiti)
[what a strange but kind of cool choice for a charity single. shane macgowan (pogues) gathers together a ragtag group of rockers and singers (chrissy hynde, nick cave, the sex pistol's glen matlock, JOHNNY DEPP (?), primal scream's bobby gillespie, newbies paloma faith and eliza doolittle) to cover screamin’ jay hawkins’s classic blues song (i swear at one point it looks like all your drunk uncles have taken over the karaoke machine!). all proceeds go to the dublin based concern worldwide who have been aiding haiti for the past 16 years.]
