just one play and you'll be able to sing along to this instantly catchy breakbeat lite pop track headlined by the wonderfully melancholic vocals of wongie fave birdy. throw in a video performance by millie bobby brown of stranger things and well... all is perfect really!

as the official 3rd single off her album 'beautiful lies', i have to admit that i haven't been as vocal about these releases as i've been of birdy's work in the past. call it a case of good music that just falls by the wayside of 'sexier' releases, but every time i hear tracks from this album i think to myself 'i must talk about it', then forget. well... forget no more as the latest track is a gorgeous ballad (co-written by aussie conrad sewell) that showcases the 20 year old's maturing confidence in her vocal styles. i gotta say, i've been playing this a few times already!
but don't think I haven't been listening to birdy, for those following my carmix 2016, you'll be well versed in these lovely remixes of birdy tracks below (which i've been listening to more than the originals)
birdy + rhodes - let it all go
this is a bit of a match made in heaven as singer songwriters birdy and rhodes all fall within the same realm of the kind of mellow paced lush pop that seems perfect for soundtracks. case in point their latest single 'let it all go' will no doubt be part of trailers and sad faced montages in the months to come. yaaay!

though we JUST posted a birdy track two days ago from the same soundtrack, it's this beautiful ballad that we loved back in april that we are still obsessed about. written especially for the soundtrack, the sad but hopeful ballad is kind of perfect for both the film and repeat listens.

yeah... this ryan tedder produced number is pretty darn good! throw in the haunting video where birdy gets all angry ghost and you've got a strong new single that deserves multiple listens!

after releasing a slew of piano driven ballads, birdy finally loosens up and puts out this joyous upbeat number co-produced by rich costey (arctic monkeys/sigur ros) and ryan tedder. it's a gem so turn it up!

what a lovely piano ballad from the young singer songwriter. throw in this live performance and you get a very good idea why there is such excitement surrounding this girl at the moment.

welcome to your drama ballad of the weekend. there's something so strangely timeless and adult about this song (especially since it's sung by a 17 year old), but it just lingers around like a sad cloud that you don't mind being under. le sad sigh... btw, if you love this track, you can get it free by signing up here!

though you can hear producer ryan tedder's (and coldplay's 'yellow') influence throughout, it's a solid original number showcasing birdy as the artist that people have been buzzing about since her cover laden debut 2 years ago. looking forward to hear what other gems the 17 year old performer will have on her upcoming album!

[oh this is dangerous... birdy covers yet another indie classic (and one of my all time favorite songs) for the masses. lucky for her, she manages to do a nice spin that not only makes it her own, but seasonally gorgeous for the winter. the girl can definitely do covers, but once again... release something original already!]

[listen i love this cover of the cherry ghost anthem as much as the next person, but i'm truly curious to see what this young girl can do with original material at this point. cmon birdy!]
