what an instantly catchy single from the UK indie rock band nothing but thieves! sure, there are hooks galore that you've heard before (it's a little bit of muse meets alt-j), but this five piece definitely has a big hit on their hands and you can't fault them for that. on my radar!

going back to their rock stadium roots, muse unleashed 'psycho' for their fans, therefore teasing a harder sound for their new album 'drones'. though this isn't the first single off the album, it is a kick in the face fuzzy guitar number that will no doubt inspire some intense air guitar-ing. go ahead... i won't judge (ok maybe i will).

there's something so wonderfully kick ass/lo-fi about these two! definitely celebrating guitar rock (i mean that riff!), i am definitely becoming a fast fan of this UK duo!

gaining popularity the old fashioned way (they gig! they're not incessantly blogged about!), these welsh boys just write decent indie rock tracks and win fans over one performance at a time. love the fact that their current lyric video are all things ewan mcgregor... bless.

who knew that brighton rocked out like this? UK duo royal blood have been compared to black keys and white stripes due to their retro garage rock sound, but like those two iconic bands, they also have a knack for good songwriting. definitely curious to hear more!

augustines - nothing to lose but your head
talk about anthem! this song just grabs you by the heart and just shakes you back down from the clouds for a reality check then kicks you flying back out with an enthused energy to take on the world (okay, maybe not that powerful, but the song is kind of brilliant in that way). trimming down their namesake to just the augustines, there are no cut corners with the bigness of this song. just rocking epic!

we actually buzzed about this brotherly trio back in 2012 (!!) and especially on this rawkus track that is just wonderfully raw and unkept in all the best ways. fast forward to a year of heavy touring and the release of their debut lo-fi album 'under the volcano' where we can revisit this awesome song again. still a rocking great time!

with just a glimmer of hope, this indie anthem turns into one of the best songs i've heard in awhile! definitely a highlight from yeah yeah yeahs current album 'mosquito' with a wonderful video by patrick daughter to boot, this is definitely on repeat!

have you fallen in love with little green cars yet? of not, then check out the next four performances below by this amazing irish 5 piece, filled with beautiful harmonies, mature songwriting skills all wrapped up in their youthful demeanor. after watching them perform live, i am completely sold on them being one of my fave new bands of 2013!

INDIE CATCH UP: green day - stray heart

green day - stray heart
the official lead single off the 'dos' release of their trilogy of albums, the sound is definitely more retro garage rock and possibly the theme of this collection of songs. not their best, but it's throwaway enough to bop along to for a few mins.
