hailing from brooklyn by way of australia, the duo of zoe randell and steve hassett have put together a wistful late summer gentle breeze of a song that also introduces us to their highly buzzed about new album 'passerby'. there's something wonderfully timeless about these guys and i can't wait to see them perform live soon!

nothing like having a friend take you to a gig where you know very little about the act and then slowly, one song at a time, the band wins you over with their solid songwriting and focused live performance. this is the case of brooklyn based rocket & the ghost, led by singer/songwriter kiyoshi matsuyama. with a shy initial stage confidence (they're only a year old yo!), all that was totally forgotten by song four as the band performed strong song after strong song that make up their impressive repertoire. check out the tune that won the best love song category at the 13th independent music awards last week. i'm a fan!

brookyln is in the house! fronted by the wonderful duo of jess wolfe and holly laessig, lucius is a retro inspired band that is causing some serious buzz among music fans all over. their current single 'turn it around' is a 60's girl band anthem that just forces you to instantly to fall in love with them. but check out their AMAZING npr tiny desk concert below where they showcase an surprising array of sounds that will blow you away! LOVE these guys!

augustines - nothing to lose but your head
talk about anthem! this song just grabs you by the heart and just shakes you back down from the clouds for a reality check then kicks you flying back out with an enthused energy to take on the world (okay, maybe not that powerful, but the song is kind of brilliant in that way). trimming down their namesake to just the augustines, there are no cut corners with the bigness of this song. just rocking epic!

after meeting at the prestigious berklee college of music, the four piece of zac, james, dave and matt moved to brooklyn to try to hone their songwriting/performance skills for world domination. it looks like it's working cause their current (very catchy) single is causing ripples in multiple formats. heading towards the top 10, you have been warned!

i think i may have found my fave new alt country, folk, americana band of the year! just listen to the crazy harmonies of Zach Williams, Brian Elmquist and Kanene Pipkin and i dare you to not get some happy chills from their performance! based out of brooklyn, this trio are primed for big things in the coming year. i'm SO looking forward to checking out a gig of theirs in the coming months!

get ready to swim in the gorgeous melodies of brooklyn, by way of sydney, band high highs. made up of aussie buddies jack milas and oli chang, plus their new member zach lipkins, the band are on the eve of releasing their debut album featuring new material and new mixes of tracks from their lush filled EP last year. the sound is lazy sunset mixed in with some lovely harmonies that'll just bring a smile to your face. check out the wonderful examples of their sweet music below and spread the word!
